Position:ย Full Time Non-Exemptย

The Underwriting Intake Specialist plays a critical role in the underwriting lifecycle by serving as the first line of data review and validation for new business submissions. This position ensures that all required documentation is complete, accurate, and compliant with internal underwriting standards before advancing cases for formal risk evaluation. The ideal candidate will be highly detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable navigating internal systems and underwriting platforms in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Review and scrub all initial underwriting submissions from Sales for completeness, accuracy, and consistency with required data standards.
  • Validate census, application, and supplemental data prior to assigning the case to an Underwriter.
  • Identify and document any missing or unclear data; coordinate with internal stakeholders to resolve gaps within defined turnaround times.
  • Enter new client prospect data into multiple systems within agency timeline requirements ensuring accuracy
  • Assign the designated Underwriter and ensure timely case creation in applicable underwriting systems.
  • Tag and flag high-priority or complex cases for expedited handling or additional review by leadership.
  • Maintain detailed documentation within the CRM and tasking systems for audit and tracking purposes.
  • Partner with Sales Coordinators, Consultants, and Underwriting team members to ensure smooth case progression.
  • Adhere to internal SLA expectations for data review and intake processing.


OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Intake processing within 1 business day of submission.
  • 100% of assigned cases contain all required documentation before release to underwriting.
  • Minimal rework or delay due to missing or inaccurate data post-release.
  • Positive feedback from Sales, Consultants, and Underwriting on quality and timeliness.


REQUIREMENTS:

  • 1+ years of experience in employee benefits, underwriting, or insurance operations preferred.
  • Prior experience in a PEO, TPA, carrier, or benefits brokerage environment a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with a commitment to data accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-volume setting.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM platforms (Salesforce, Client Space, etc.).
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.


COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

The salary range targeted for this position is listed below. However, you should know that the pay rate may vary based on regional location, the candidate's skill, and relevant experience. In addition, some positions may include a form of bonus or other incentive compensation, which would not be included in this hourly range.

Hourly Range: $23.00-25.00 per hourย
