Job description

Description
We answer on the worst day of someone's life.
When a parent reaches out to a family law firm, they are usually frightened, overwhelmed, and not sure who to trust. How we answer that first contact tells them everything about who we are. At Adelante Legal Services, we're a remote-first family law firm serving New Mexico families through some of the hardest moments of their lives. Built on 23+ years of family law experience and designed for the modern era, we believe families deserve better than what family law usually delivers. Our mission is to empower people through exceptional representation, education, and support that strengthen and protect their families during times of change.
We're looking for an Intake Specialist who owns the relationship, not just the phone. Someone who can be the calm, caring first voice for a family in crisis, screen with discipline so our attorneys spend their time on the right cases, and follow up so reliably that no one who needs us slips away in silence. You will own whether a qualified prospect becomes a client. We use technology aggressively, document everything, and hold ourselves to a standard most firms in our market don't bother with.
If you care deeply about people, take ownership of outcomes, and want your work to actually matter, keep reading.
Responsibilities
• Own the prospect pipeline from first contact through signed engagement, including disciplined follow-up with people who are not ready yet, so no qualified family is lost to slow or absent follow-up
• Be the calm, compassionate first point of contact for prospective clients reaching out during a difficult time, making every caller feel heard, even when we cannot take their case
• Run a conflict check and screen every prospect against our case-acceptance criteria before any substantive conversation, so our attorneys meet only with qualified, conflict-cleared people
• Schedule, confirm, and protect consultations, actively reducing no-shows
• Move qualified prospects toward signing, handling hesitation honestly, and following up persistently without pressure or over-promising outcomes
• Keep complete, accurate records on every prospect in our systems, and hand off newly retained matters cleanly to the legal team and to billing
Qualifications
• 2+ years in a client-facing, intake, sales-support, or front-office role; legal or family law intake experience is a strong plus
• Genuinely enjoys connecting with people and owning a pipeline, taking ownership of whether a prospect becomes a client, not just processing inquiries
• Warm, professional, and steady under pressure, including with distressed or emotional callers
• Disciplined, reliable follow-up; you do not let leads go cold
• Comfortable adopting technology aggressively, including CRM and AI tools, with clean and consistent data habits
• Clear, precise communication, whether talking to a frightened parent or writing a handoff for the legal team
• Strong ability to work independently in a fully remote, digital-first environment
• Exceptional attention to detail and discretion, recognizing that conflict checks and confidentiality have real consequences for real families
• Bilingual (English and Spanish) is a plus
