What is a remote intake assessment?

A Remote Intake Assessment is an initial evaluation conducted virtually, often by phone or video call, to gather key information about a client or patient. This process is commonly used in healthcare, counseling, or social services to determine the needs, background, and appropriate next steps for individuals seeking assistance. It allows organizations to efficiently screen and triage clients before providing further services, all without requiring in-person meetings. Remote Intake Assessments are especially valuable for improving accessibility and reducing wait times.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote intake assessment specialist, and why are they important?

To excel as a Remote Intake Assessment Specialist, you need strong assessment, interviewing, and documentation skills, often supported by a background in social work, counseling, or healthcare. Familiarity with telehealth platforms, electronic case management systems, and secure data handling is typically required. Outstanding interpersonal communication, empathy, and active listening help build rapport and accurately understand client needs. These competencies ensure accurate assessments, effective client engagement, and compliance with privacy regulations in a remote environment.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals in remote intake assessment roles, and how can they be addressed?

Professionals in Remote Intake Assessment roles often encounter challenges such as establishing rapport with clients virtually, managing technology issues, and ensuring thorough data collection without face-to-face interaction. To address these, it’s important to use clear communication techniques, maintain a reliable internet connection, and leverage digital tools for documentation. Regular collaboration with team members and ongoing training in tele-assessment best practices can also help maintain high-quality service and client engagement.

Job description

Benefits:
  • Flexible schedule

Fidelia Counseling Services is seeking a highly skilled, independent Licensed Clinical Supervisor (1099 Contractor) to join our growing team. This role operates 100% via telehealth and is responsible for delivering high-quality clinical supervision, compliance oversight, and educational mentorship. You will guide our diverse staff—including master’s-level pre-licensed clinicians, bachelor’s-level support specialists, therapeutic mentors (TMs), and graduate interns—while ensuring absolute adherence to Massachusetts state guidelines and insurance regulations.
Key Responsibilities
  • Clinical Supervision: Provide weekly individual and group clinical supervision via telehealth technology, helping supervisees cultivate clinical competencies and navigate high-risk client dynamics.
  • Documentation & EHR Audits: Regularly review and electronically sign off on clinical charts, diagnostic assessments, progress notes, and treatment plans within our Electronic Health Record (EHR) system to ensure strict compliance with Massachusetts DPH and MassHealth standards.
  • Team Consultation: Participate in weekly collaborative consultations with the CEO, Operations Director, and full clinical team to maintain organizational alignment and address operational or intake challenges.
  • Monthly Training Delivery: Design and facilitate a formal monthly clinical training session for staff and interns, focusing on evidence-based treatment models, crisis de-escalation, or trauma-informed practices.
  • HIPAA & Compliance: Ensure all clinical documentation, supervisee records, and remote operations strictly align with HIPAA privacy mandates and 130 CMR 429.000 regulations.
Requirements & Qualifications
  • Licensure: Must hold an active, unencumbered independent clinical license in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts: LICSW, LMHC, or LMFT.
  • Experience (Massachusetts Mandate): Minimum of three (3) years of full-time post-licensure clinical experience, legally qualifying you as an Approved Clinical Supervisor under the Massachusetts state boards (e.g., 262 CMR 2.02).
  • System Competency: Highly proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Teams) and seasoned experience navigating Electronic Health Record (EHR) clinical software.
  • Specialized Knowledge (Strong Plus): Strong familiarity with Children’s Behavioral Health Initiative (CBHI) frameworks, Therapeutic Mentoring (TM) workflows, and Community Behavioral Health Center (CBHC) compliance guidelines is highly preferred.
  • Language Skills: Bilingual and multilingual applicants are highly encouraged to apply. Fluency or clinical proficiency in Spanish, Haitian Creole, or Portuguese brings immense value to our local MassHealth community base.
  • Cultural Fit: Active commitment to a healthy, non-toxic, collaborative, and drama-free workplace environment. Complete alignment with our LGBTQ+ affirming mission and our organizational motto: "Together we can make it happen."
Position Details
  • Employment Type: Independent Contractor (1099)
  • Location: 100% Telehealth (Must reside or be licensed to practice in Massachusetts)
  • Hours: Part-time, flexible hours determined by the current supervisee caseload and weekly meeting blocks.
