Job description

Staff Software Engineer – Distributed Systems & Cloud (Remote)

A fast-growing healthcare technology company focused on advancing remote cardiac care is seeking an experienced Staff Software Engineer to help shape the technical direction of its platform and engineering organization. This role is ideal for a senior technologist who enjoys solving complex architectural challenges while influencing how engineering teams build, scale, and deliver reliable software.

As a Staff Engineer, you will operate as both a hands-on architect and technical leader, helping guide system design across multiple teams. You’ll work on distributed systems that support critical healthcare applications while improving the scalability, reliability, and maintainability of the platform.

In this role, you’ll collaborate closely with product leaders, engineers, and cross-functional partners to align technical decisions with business goals and customer needs. You will identify opportunities to simplify complex systems, reduce technical risk, and introduce engineering practices that improve quality and speed of delivery.

Key responsibilities include designing scalable cloud-based architectures, guiding system-wide technical decisions, and helping teams navigate complex engineering challenges. You will also play a key role in strengthening engineering practices such as testing strategies, reliability standards, and operational excellence. Mentoring experienced engineers and influencing technical direction across teams will be an important part of your impact.

The technology stack includes Node.js, TypeScript, SQL databases (MySQL or PostgreSQL), and AWS cloud infrastructure, with a strong focus on scalable SaaS architecture and distributed systems.

The ideal candidate brings extensive software engineering experience, strong cloud and systems design expertise, and a track record of leading technical initiatives that improve engineering outcomes. Experience building systems in regulated industries such as healthcare or fintech—particularly involving HIPAA-compliant platforms, device data, or healthcare integrations—is a plus.

This is an opportunity to play a key role in building technology that supports better patient outcomes while shaping the future of a growing engineering organization.
