SUMMARY: The Inside Sales Representative plays a vital role in increasing revenues and profitability through proactive account management and development within an assigned territory. This position is responsible for fostering strong customer relationships, providing exceptional service, and identifying opportunities to maximize sales growth and profitability while ensuring complete customer satisfaction.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing customers, ensuring their ongoing satisfaction and trust in Samuel Son & Co.
  • Proactively identify and pursue opportunities to expand the customer base and increase market share within the designated territory.
  • Stay informed about market trends, competitive activities, and industry developments to effectively position Samuel Son & Co. in the marketplace.
  • Serve as a liaison between customers and internal departments (Credit, Production, Operations, Shipping, Purchasing, and Inside Sales) to ensure seamless communication and fulfillment of customer needs.
  • Adapt to changing company and market conditions while consistently meeting customer expectations.
  • Facilitate facility tours and coordinate meetings between key personnel at Samuel and customer facilities.
  • Monitor and address any concerns related to aged inventory to maintain optimal inventory levels and customer satisfaction.
  • Conduct regular meetings with customers and internal teams to review sales performance and ensure alignment with Samuel's sales criteria.
  • Educate customers about the full range of products and services offered by Samuel and explore opportunities for cross-selling and upselling.
  • Demonstrate value-added solutions to enhance customer relationships and drive repeat business.
  • Prepare and submit required reports, including monthly forecasts, territory updates, and lost business analysis.
  • Collaborate with the Business Development Team to identify and pursue leads on prospective accounts.
  • Provide backup support to the Inside Sales team as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or related field preferred (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of sales experience, preferably in the metals industry.
  • Demonstrated success in customer interaction and relationship management.
  • Valid driver's license and proof of insurance required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel frequently within the designated territory, with flexibility to work remotely as needed.
  • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Proven ability to negotiate effectively and close sales.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Analytical mindset with problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and occasionally high-stress environment.

Work Environment:

  • Ability to visit customer facilities to assess their needs and provide solutions.
  • Comfortable with visiting and evaluating production facilities, adhering to safety protocols and wearing necessary personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Willingness to travel via car within the designated territory as required.
