Position Description
Under the direction of the Manufacturing Engineering Director; he/she is responsible for helping to improve the operating efficiency of the manufacturing facilities through focus on the Industrial Engineering discipline. The incumbent formulates, administers, coordinates standardized Industrial Engineering policies and practices that are designed to improve the operating performance systems within the manufacturing facilities.
The incumbent maintains a relationship with DC plant Manufacturing Engineering personnel (Manufacturing Engineer, Industrial Engineer or Standards Technician), providing direction and training in areas of Industrial Engineering work required at the manufacturing facilities tied to supporting labor routings. In addition, the incumbent will audit and evaluate the work of the plant ME personnel supporting the IE work as he/she closely coordinates the Industrial Engineering priorities with the location Manufacturing Engineering Supervisor/Manager.
Key Responsibilities
  • Assurance of accurate and consistent routings and labor standards through all Data Center facilities to support.
  • Develop and execute a standard routing development process to be used across all manufacturing facilities as well as a process to audit routings internally.
  • Develop training materials for plant ME/IE personnel to follow for providing plant labor variance reports.
  • Coordinate with Financial Operations in routing related issues that impact process costings.
  • Standardize and work with plant ME/IE personnel to ensure process pre-rate estimating templates are up to date for proper cost estimating. Working collaborative with cost estimating team on new program estimates.
  • Coordinate the development and use of a standards template for process sheets used within the facility (process steps and time basis).
  • Oversight of consistent updates to plant BOM's as needed.
  • Development and implementation of a system for measuring plant routing accuracy which can be used as plant performance metric.
  • Oversee the use of a standard machine capacity monitoring templated tied to the 5-yr sales plan for each facility.
  • Work with plant ME/IE personnel to ensure plant related cost estimates (service estimates for example) are completed consistently.
  • Lead major IE projects that are rolled out across the vertical as requested by leadership.
  • Support the plant continuous improvement teams with regards to Lean Manufacturing and Ergonomic Improvements and ensure a process is in place to update labor routings impacted.

Required Education & Qualifications
Minimum of an undergraduate college engineering degree, preferably a Bachelor of Science in Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering (or related technical discipline).
  • Must posses at least 5-10 years of direct or related Industrial Engineering experience, with a proven track record of managing large projects.
  • Must be personable, have good communication skills, problem solving/decision making, and strategy formulating abilities, while being able to drive change and hold others accountable. Organization and follow-up skills are critical.
  • Must be a strong leader that can handle a wide range of activities where multi-tasking is required. Candidate must be productive, self-driven, while maintaining high work quality, integrity, and be adaptive to change.
  • The candidate should have a broad organizational background; with the ability to understand a broad base of manufacturing, financial, and other related disciplines.
  • Use of and understanding of SAP environment is required.
  • General understanding of the APQP process is desired.
