Job description

This position is a member of AVI-SPL's Global Supply Chain Team and is responsible for overseeing the strategy and implementation of Logistics, Warehousing, and Inventory standards for locations in the LATAM region. This includes outsourced transportation, store-pick-pack-ship warehouse processes, Third Party Logistics (3PL) warehousing standards and vendor selection, inventory management strategies, and import/export activities in order to enhance margin and better deliver to customers.
Job Summary
  • This position is a member of AVI-SPL's Global Supply Chain Team and is responsible for overseeing the strategy and implementation of Logistics, Warehousing, and Inventory standards for locations in the LATAM region. This includes outsourced transportation, store-pick-pack-ship warehouse processes, Third Party Logistics (3PL) warehousing standards and vendor selection, inventory management strategies, and import/export activities in order to enhance margin and better deliver to customers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Ensure the implementation and sustainment of Supply Chain best practices in accordance with the Association of Supply Chain Management (ASCM) standards across all LATAM markets
  • Lead LATAM Supply Chain network optimization assessments and execution
  • Ensure correct transportation vendor selection within the appropriate levels of service and cost for shipments: to and from vendors, AVI-SPL warehouses, 3PL facilities, and job sites
  • Assess inefficiencies across multiple warehouse operations and oversee implementation of corrective measures, establishing documented change and standards for updated processes.
  • Ensure optimized and compliant Import/Export standards for each LATAM country
  • Oversee and support the creation and optimization of Standard Operating Procedures and pertaining to Logistics, Warehousing, and Inventory
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and performance metrics to assess the effectiveness and efficiency of warehouse operations
  • Facilitate AVI-SPL's ability to leverage scale in new/existing relationships with the company's Logistics and Warehousing vendors
  • Diversify the company's carrier portfolio including TL (truckload) and LTL (less than truckload) carriers, brokers, White Glove Final Mile Agents, Freight forwarders, Third Party Logistics (3PL's), drayage providers, air freight carriers and independent contractors:
    • Analyze and interpretate shipping data from multiple carriers
    • Perform national bid process or lane negotiations with brokers and asset-based carriers for long haul shipments.
    • Onboard Agents to implement outsourced final mile optimization from local offices as appropriate
    • Implement standardized operating agreements and service level agreements (SLA's) including ISO (International Organization for Standardization)) based Risk Assessment. Re-qualify existing vendors and deactivate from the network if needed while continuously adding new capacity with qualified vendors.
  • Track and maintain acceptable levels of Delivered In Full On Time (DIFOT) and internal customer service metrics
  • Support the VP, Global Supply Chain with any process changes relating to LATAM Supply Chain
  • Advise Warehouse Management in all levels of the organization on packaging and outbound shipping standards/protocols
  • Collaborate with Procurement to optimize inbound shipments from vendors and negotiate price breaks on equipment due to optimized shipments
  • Assist Sales team with accurate estimates for projects involving complex supply chain challenges
  • Track compliance with countermeasures and best practices and follow up to ensure compliance
  • Create and provide reports as needed.

Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to pivot efficiently between strategic initiatives and tactical execution as business needs require
  • Ability to both work independently and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to finalize and implement logistics and transportation related goals
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams across multiple functional areas in a matrixed environment.
  • Must have clear and professional communication skills (written and oral) both internally and externally
  • Excellent data entry and organizational skills
  • Intermediate PC skills and working knowledge of Office Suite (Excel, Word)
  • Demonstrated customer service focus and client communication skills
  • Ability to travel as needed to local offices, vendor facilities and customer sites.

Education and/or Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, or related field is preferred
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) required
  • Minimum 7-10 years of leadership experience in Logistics/Supply Chain including both asset based and outsourced transportation
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience managing a team with multiple layers of management
  • Lean Six Sigma experience preferred
  • ASCM certification is preferred (CSCP, CLTD, CPIM, or CTSC)
  • Demonstrated working experience using data and analytics to formulate countermeasures
  • Experience implementing countermeasures across multiple locations
