Job description

Paper Trails is a Maine-based payroll, HR, and human capital management firm serving small and mid-sized businesses across New England. We're looking for an experienced Payroll Implementation & Transformation Consultant to lead new client onboardings from kickoff through their first few payrolls - and to keep making existing clients' systems smarter, faster, and more automated.

What you'll do

You'll be the single point of contact for multiple concurrent client implementations, owning the full cycle: needs assessment, data collection, isolved configuration, testing, training, and first payrolls. Beyond onboarding, you'll act as our subject-matter expert on advanced configurations - building integrations with benefit carriers, 401(k) providers, and GL systems, troubleshooting tax and compliance setups, and designing process improvements that cut manual work and improve data accuracy. You'll also mentor newer team members and occasionally meet clients face-to-face.

What we're looking for
  • This position is fully remote, but we prefer candidates in the Eastern Time Zone to best align with client expectations.
  • 2+ years working in the isolved suite, in a client service or project management environment
  • Background in accounting, business, or HR (degree preferred)
  • FPC or CPP certification preferred
  • Strong Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, pivots, CSV cleanup); familiarity with scripting concepts or AI tools is a plus
  • Sharp analytical and time-management skills, comfortable juggling several large projects at once
  • Confident communicator with business owners by phone, email, and in person
  • Open to travel to Maine 2-3 times annually.
What we offer
  • Salary $65K–$75K based on experience, plus annual bonuses and profit sharing
  • 100% company-paid health, dental, vision, and short/long-term disability (employee)
  • 3% 401(k) company contribution
  • Unlimited PTO + all federal holidays
  • Shortened Friday schedule (8:30–noon); Mon–Thu 8:30–4:00

Paper Trails is an equal opportunity employer.
