Job Description

Responsible for directing programming activities, including systems design, systems applications, data processing equipment operations and personal computer hardware, software and support. Recommends equipment changes to support current and future company needs. Must provide management direction and leadership in computer applications development and computer operations of assigned operations. Responsible for the development of the department budgets and controls the expenditures for department information system solutions.

Required Profile

Directs and coordinates development and production activities of data processing departments. Confers with department heads involved with proposed projects to ensure cooperation and further define nature of projects.

Analyzes management needs regarding information retrieval, data control and expanded use of computing and data processing equipment in company operations and processes.

Provides guidance and counsel to management in the examination and definition of objectives for existing or proposed systems and in the design of improved systems utilizing computing and data processing equipment.

Recommends the location, type, size and equipment for data processing installations including applicable machine programs within the limits of corporate policy.

Recommends the staffing for Biddeford location consistent with the work. Assists in the selection of and supervises training of personnel with the limits of corporate administrative policy.

Directs the preparation and installation of data processing procedures and systems, including the design of source documents, technical direction of data processing operations and assistance in the format of management reports.

Establishes machine schedules to obtain maximum utilization of equipment and personnel.

Directs the continuing review of present systems and methods and the formulation of new and revised systems and telecommunications alternatives, examining techniques in use and determining appropriate changes to effect improvements, reduce costs and enhance efficiency.
