About the Position: The Military Entrance Processing Station plays a vital role in maintaining the nation's military might by ensuring that each new member of the Armed Forces: Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force, Space Force & Coast Guard; meets the high mental, moral & medical standards required by the DoD & the military services. Every MEPS represents state of the art in testing, examining & processing applicants for enlistment into the Armed Forces.

Duties
Help
- Provide administrative support to the Reception-Administration Control Desk (RACD).
- Record maintenance and accountability, and enlistment processing to include fingerprinting of applicants.
- Greet and account for visitors/applicants in and out of the MEPS; providing identification tags.
- Review notes and corrects discrepancies when differences occur. Gathers information, not previously disclosed, which would bear on moral or physical suitability for enlistment.
- Transmits fingerprints electronically to the investigating agency (Office of Personnel Management (OPM)/Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)); initiating background check.
- Screens applicant records to ascertain that all necessary documents are present according to the requirements of each military service.

- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Requires the skills of a qualified typist and ability to utilize web-based software systems.
- Employee may be required to work an occasional Saturday and/or shift work (work before 0600 or after 1800 hours)
- Employee will routinely be required to work unscheduled overtime to accommodate fluctuations in workload based on the daily mission requirements
- Successful completion of applicable Military Health System (MHS) GENESIS Training is required in order to access the MHS GENESIS System within 30 days of on-boarding and/or as required.
- Enter data in Command automated system(s) to record applicant processing information.
- Transcribe data from numerous source documents which are completed by the applicant and/or military service representative.
Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes utilizing office automation software to update account information; obtaining data from applicants for completion of personnel records; maintaining applicant records in accordance with n established filing system; utilizing appropriate formatting to create written correspondence and/or documents. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).
OR
Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.
Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
