Lead Radio Systems Technician
Location: Northern California or Remote | Travel: 50% (Regional/Multi-State) | Type: Full-Time
Role Overview
Are you a technical expert who thrives on the challenge of large-scale infrastructure? We are looking for a Lead Radio Systems Technician to spearhead the installation and integration of mission-critical VHF/UHF communication networks.
This is more than a bench tech role. You will be the technical lead on major construction sites, managing complex installations from fixed-site repeaters to high-end vehicle fleet integration. If you have deep experience with Motorola, Tait, and Kenwood systems and are ready to lead a team in the field, we want to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities
  • Systems Installation: Lead the deployment of VHF/UHF radio systems, including fixed infrastructure (base stations, repeaters, antennas, cabling) and mobile vehicle installs.
  • Technical Programming: Program, tune, and troubleshoot equipment from major manufacturers (Motorola, Tait, Kenwood, etc.).
  • Site Supervision: Act as the primary technical point of contact on large-scale construction sites, overseeing installation crews and ensuring strict adherence to safety and quality standards.
  • Field Engineering: Perform site surveys, signal testing (P25, DMR, Analog), and interference analysis to ensure 100% coverage and reliability.
  • Leadership & Coordination: Coordinate with site foremen and project managers to keep deployments on schedule and within technical specifications.

Qualifications & Requirements
  • LMR Expertise: 35+ years of hands-on experience with LMR/VHF/UHF systems. Proficiency with RF tools (wattmeters, service monitors, spectrum analyzers).
  • Manufacturer Proficiency: Direct experience with Motorola, Tait, or Kenwood programming and hardware.
  • Construction Experience: Proven ability to navigate and supervise work within active, large-scale construction environments.
  • Travel Ready: Must be willing and able to travel up to 50% of the time for out-of-state project assignments.
  • Physical Ability: Comfortable working on ladders, in crawl spaces, and in various weather conditions common to construction sites.
  • Licensing: A valid drivers license and clean driving record are mandatory. (FCC GROL or CET certification is a major plus).

Benefits & Perks
We take care of the people who keep our world connected. Our comprehensive benefits package includes:
  • Health & Wellness: Premium Medical, Dental, and Vision coverage for you and your family.
  • Financial Security: 401(k) retirement plan with a generous company match and company-paid Life Insurance/AD&D.
  • Work-Life Balance: Competitive Paid Time Off (PTO) and a robust vacation policy, plus 12 paid holidays per year.
  • Growth & Education: Tuition Reimbursement and company-paid manufacturer certifications to keep your skills at the top of the industry.
  • Perks of the Road: Employees retain all accrued hotel points and airline miles from business travel.

This is a remote position.
