• Conduct thorough mental health assessments for elderly clients, identifying their unique emotional and psychological care needs.
• Provide both individual and group therapy sessions tailored to address the specific challenges associated with aging, including mental health issues such as depression and anxiety.
• Develop and implement treatment plans that incorporate client feedback to encourage engagement and progress.
• Educate families and care staff on effective strategies for enhancing the emotional well-being and overall quality of life for seniors.
• Facilitate grief and loss counseling sessions, providing empathetic support to families dealing with end-of-life transitions.
• Maintain accurate documentation and case notes in accordance with organizational policies and state regulations.

At Lowland Behavioral Health Center, you will primarily work with the elderly population, facing diverse mental health challenges stemming from age-related issues, such as cognitive decline, bereavement, and coping with significant life changes. Your expertise in geriatric counseling will enable you to build trusting relationships and provide critical support during a vulnerable period of their lives.

• A Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from an accredited institution.
• Current and valid Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) credential.
• A minimum of two years of relevant experience in geriatric counseling and mental health support.
• Proficient understanding of mental health challenges specific to the elderly and effective therapeutic interventions.

• Experience delivering therapeutic services in both individual and group settings for older adults.
• Familiarity with best practices in grief counseling and palliative care.
• Demonstrated success in using telehealth platforms to deliver care.
