Summary: The Pharmacy Access and Solutions Technician provides support related to medication access, utilization and optimization. The technician has a high level of autonomy working directly with patients, prescribers, payers and other members of the healthcare team to identify and resolve medication-related barriers.
The technician serves as a key point of coordination, helping to streamline communication across care settings, improve access to medications, and support positive patient outcomes. The position also contributes to process improvement activities that enhance patient care, customer service, and operational efficiency, with an emphasis on providing high quality patient care and customer service, with an emphasis on providing high-quality patient care and customer service.
This position is primarily remote, with occasional onsite attendance required for meetings, training, and other work-related activities.
This position qualifies for our Pharmacy Technician Incentive Program, which includes $5000 in commitment incentives spread over a two-year period. Payment is made after six months, one year, and two years of employment.
Responsibilities:
  1. Maintain current knowledge of service line applicable regulations and external support services
  2. Utilize internally developed systems, the electronic health record (EPIC) and commercial vendor software to document and track patient eligibility, prescriptions, patient communications and program enrollment
  3. Document and communicate findings to the patient, provider, pharmacies, and other stakeholders per internal operational standards in a timely and professional manner
  4. Schedule visits for the patient with the pharmacist for phone and telemedicine- based clinics. Make appointment reminder calls to the patient.
  5. Conduct a pre-visit assessment through telephone communication with the patient to determine patient's adherence to the prescribed medication regimen(s), verify pharmacy benefit coverage, and prioritize patient appointments with the pharmacist based on the results of the assessment.
  6. Respond to and resolve pharmacy-related inquiries from members, clients, providers, or pharmacies related to medications. Appropriately triage inquiries to relevant team members when additional expertise is required.
  7. Support the pharmacist/CPP with administrative and operation tasks as delegated, which could include, but is not limited to contacting pharmacies, providers, or patients to verify medication histories and adherence and collecting patient's self-reported clinical data (blood pressures, weights, blood glucose readings, etc).
  8. Provide support to develop and utilize processes that improve operational workflow to positively impact patient care and optimize clinical processes.
  9. Assist in training and onboarding new employees and pharmacy learners
  10. Perform other duties as assigned related to business needs

Education Requirements:
• HS diploma or equivalent.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
• Registration with the NC Board of Pharmacy unless enrolled in a PharmD program.
• CPhT from PTCB or ExCPT from NHA unless enrolled in a PharmD program.
Professional Experience Requirements:
• Two years of pharmacy technician experience required.
Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities Requirements:
  • Bilingual Spanish/English is highly desired
  • Ability to embrace and adapt to change quickly
  • Friendly, helpful, and focused on delivering excellent patient care in a team environment
  • Exhibits strong communication skills with a commitment to giving and receiving feedback respectfully and effectively
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (particularly Outlook, Excel, Word, Visio), technology utilization, and Epic/electronic medical records programs
  • Exhibits evidence of being a self-motivated problem-solver, independent worker and a valuable team contributor with previous experience working remotely
  • Detail oriented, with a high level of organizational skills
