Job description

Thrive is a leading behavior change technology company founded by Arianna Huffington in 2016 with the mission to end the stress and burnout epidemic. Thrive helps individuals and organizations improve well-being, performance and mental resilience with its AI-powered behavior change technology platform. Thrive's Microsteps - small, science-backed steps to improve health and productivity - have been adopted by employees at more than 125 organizations in over 140 countries, from frontline and call center workers to executives at multinational companies.
If you're not sure that you're 100% qualified, but this sounds like a role you would Thrive in - we want you to apply! We believe skills are transferable and passion for our mission goes a long way.
This is a defining role for a content leader who is passionate about creating engaging, science-backed content across a variety of formats. As Head of Content at Thrive Global, you will lead our content team and own the development of best-in-class health and wellbeing content that empowers individuals and organizations around the world.
This is a player-coach role with a deliberate balance of hands-on, tactical execution and leadership. You will shape a content strategy and oversee a team, while also writing, editing, and producing high-impact content that sets the bar for excellence. As a leader both internally and externally, you will represent Thrive's brand, voice, and behavior change methodology to maximize impact, and harness your creativity and expertise to explore new ways of bringing value to our global customers.
How You'll Contribute
This role spans strategic leadership and daily execution. You will set direction for the team and take a hands-on role in producing high-quality content.
Lead & Build
  • Lead the content team and own the editorial vision, strategy, and roadmap for Thrive's science-backed health and wellbeing content
  • Manage and mentor a team of writers, editors, and content creators, with opportunities to grow the team over time
  • Set and enforce editorial standards for accuracy, credibility, voice, and science-backed quality across all content formats
  • Build the systems, workflows, and editorial calendar that enable the team to produce high-quality content at scale
  • Partner with product, brand, partnerships, and customer success to ensure content supports engagement, behavior change, and business outcomes

Create & Execute
  • Write, edit, and produce high-impact content, including webinars, articles, video scripts, product copy, Microsteps, and courses
  • Serve as senior editor on the team's most important work, providing line edits, ensuring scientific credibility, and raising the quality of every piece that ships
  • Own day-to-day execution of priority content from conception through publication, including managing your own deadlines and deliverables
  • Champion the Thrive brand voice across all content, internal and external
  • Champion the effective and responsible use of AI in content creation, personalization, and distribution
  • Represent Thrive to customers, partners, and at industry moments as needed

Qualifications & Skills
  • 10+ years of experience in content, editorial, journalism, and/or branded content, including team leadership
  • Demonstrated success as a player-coach - leading a team while also producing high-impact content
  • A portfolio demonstrating high-quality content across multiple formats and a measurable impact on audience growth or engagement
  • A passion for health and wellbeing, including experience translating complex scientific subject matter into accessible, trustworthy content - health, wellbeing, and behavior change strongly preferred
  • Proven ability to build and lead a content team, including hiring, developing, and managing writers and editors
  • Strong editorial judgment and a relentless quality bar, paired with the operational discipline to ship consistently and address customer feedback
  • Fluency with content performance metrics, SEO, and audience analytics to inform editorial decisions
  • Excellent stakeholder management - you can align content strategy with product, marketing, and commercial goals
  • Demonstrated curiosity about AI tools and how they can responsibly enhance content workflows
  • Experience in a startup or high-growth environment is a plus

Who You Are
  • A seasoned content leader who has built and scaled editorial teams, set vision, and shipped high-quality work in a deadline-oriented culture
  • Equally comfortable managing a team, presenting to customers, developing content roadmaps, and rolling up your sleeves to pitch, write, edit, review and research
  • AI-fluent, with ready-to-implement ideas on how AI can responsibly accelerate and enhance content creation
  • An exceptional storyteller and hands-on maker who can translate scientific research and behavioral science into clear, compelling, trustworthy content for global audiences
  • Deeply credible and curious in the realm of health and wellbeing, with a passion for the latest science and research across general wellbeing and specific health conditions
  • A manager who leads by example: you raise the quality bar while building the processes, calendars, and standards that enable your team to move fast, iterate, and continually learn and improve
  • Multi-format fluent - with expertise and experience in Thrive's content formats including webinars, articles, video, audio, social, newsletters, curricula, recipes, and in-product content
  • A people-first leader who develops talent, gives compassionately direct feedback, and cultivates a culture of excellence

What We Offer:
  • Mission-Driven Impact: Be part of a company that's truly making a difference in people's lives around the world.
  • Career Growth: Develop within the company and help shape our growth strategy.
  • Human-Centric Culture: Thrive in a supportive environment with a range of wellness perks and benefits.
  • Competitive Compensation: Enjoy a comprehensive and rewarding total compensation package.
  • Health & Financial Benefits: Medical, dental, and vision coverage plus a 401(k) program with company match.
  • Time to Recharge: Generous paid time-off programs designed to help you rest, reset, and recharge - including Thrive Time, a benefit unique to Thrive that gives employees additional paid time off after major projects or intense periods of work to truly recharge and recover.

Compensation:
Total target compensation for this role will be $210,000.
  • Please note: We provide a competitive mix of salary, performance bonus, and equity. The final offer amount will depend on factors like experience, expertise, and may differ from the range above. This range also excludes additional benefits, such as 401(k), and medical, dental, or vision insurance.

Thrive is deeply committed to creating a safe and welcoming work environment free of discrimination and harassment so that all employees can bring their whole selves to work.
