Job description

Position Title: Senior Accountant

Location: Centreville, VA (Hybrid – 3 days onsite, 2 days remote)

Assignment Type: Permanent Hire

Compensation: $100,000 - $115,000 annually

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Benefits: This position is eligible for Medical, Dental, Vision, and 401(k).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage fixed asset accounting, including asset additions, disposals, transfers, depreciation, and reconciliation of fixed asset records.
  • Account for capitalized expenditures and ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and company policies.
  • Prepare and maintain supporting schedules for federal, state, and local tax compliance activities, including indirect tax filings and related reporting requirements.
  • Oversee payroll accounting activities, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and coordination with payroll and HR teams.
  • Maintain accounting records related to intangible assets and goodwill, including amortization schedules and periodic assessments.
  • Administer lease accounting processes, including recognition, measurement, reconciliations, and ongoing maintenance of lease schedules.
  • Record and reconcile debt-related transactions, interest expense, and supporting schedules.
  • Prepare complex journal entries and perform detailed balance sheet reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records.
  • Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes while meeting reporting deadlines.
  • Assist with preparation of financial statements, management reporting, and supporting analyses.
  • Research technical accounting matters and document accounting conclusions as needed.
  • Partner with internal and external auditors by preparing supporting documentation and responding to audit requests.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and operational efficiencies.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and technical accounting concepts.
  • Experience with fixed assets, lease accounting, debt accounting, payroll accounting, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookup functions, and data analysis.
  • Experience working within ERP systems.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPA designation or active pursuit of CPA certification.
  • Public accounting experience.
  • Experience in multi-entity or multi-location accounting environments.
  • Familiarity with lease accounting software and financial reporting systems.
  • Experience supporting audits and researching technical accounting guidance.
