Sr. Technical Designer, Women's Bottoms - Denim

In this role, you will own and lead technical design and fit for our women's denim bottoms category.

Success in this role means turning fit into a true competitive advantage for Quince, directly impacting customer satisfaction, reducing returns, and creating consistently great-fitting denim. You will own the fit process from first prototype through bulk production, ensuring our denim meets Quince's standards for fit, construction, quality, and consistency.

This role partners closely with merchandising, sourcing, product development, production, and global technical design teams to develop fit blocks, evaluate samples and patterns, recommend revisions, and move products through Pre-Production approval. You will bring deep denim expertise to the development process, helping establish and continuously improve fit standards and technical processes across the category.

The goal is simple: deliver best-in-class women's denim fit, improve the customer experience, and build scalable technical design processes as we grow.

Responsibilities

  • Own the technical design and fit process for women's denim bottoms from 1st Proto through Bulk production.
  • Build and maintain fit blocks for key denim styles that can serve as a foundation for future product development.
  • Develop, maintain, and update technical spec pages for all styles, ensuring accuracy and consistency across the category.
  • Spec garments, conduct fit sessions, and provide detailed, actionable fit comments to vendors and factories.
  • Evaluate denim samples throughout the development process and make recommendations to improve fit, proportion, construction, and overall product execution.
  • Evaluate paper and digital patterns and recommend revisions to achieve the desired fit and silhouette.
  • Partner closely with merchandising, sourcing, product development, and production teams to ensure fit and quality are considered at every stage of development.
  • Collaborate with global technical design teams to establish fit standards and processes that can be consistently executed across regions.
  • Use customer feedback, returns data, and sales insights to identify opportunities to improve denim fit, quality, and consistency.
  • Partner with vendors, mills, and factories to troubleshoot fit, pattern, construction, and production issues and develop effective solutions.
  • Sketch detailed flats and leverage Google Sheets and Excel to communicate technical information with internal and external teams.
  • Ensure all garments meet Quince standards for fit, construction, quality, and overall product intent.
  • Stay current on denim construction, washes, fabrications, and industry best practices to continuously improve our denim product.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design, Apparel Design, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 8+ years of technical design experience, with deep expertise in women's bottoms and denim.
  • Strong understanding of denim fit, pattern making, garment construction, grading, and manufacturing.
  • Proven experience managing the fit process from first prototype through bulk production.
  • Strong understanding of denim-specific construction, fabrication, washes, and finishing.
  • Proficiency in pattern making and technical design software; experience with DXF files and CLO preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and Google Sheets preferred.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy when creating and reviewing technical specifications.
  • Strong fitting skills with the ability to identify fit issues and clearly communicate actionable solutions.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment and manage multiple styles and priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional and global teams.
  • Creative, analytical, and resourceful approach to solving technical and product challenges.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with vendors, factories, and cross-functional partners.

Physical Requirements:

  • Standing and walking throughout the entirety of your shift
  • Ability to go up and down stairs, use of ladders throughout the day as needed
  • Bending, twisting, or kneeling may be required throughout the day for lifting or maneuvering objects
