About the PositionÂ
We're seeking a junior to mid-level Civil Engineer / Field Engineer to support large, heavy-civil infrastructure programs including highways, roads, bridges, transit (both rail and bus), international airports, and water/wastewater projects delivered through both traditional and alternative methods. Your initial focus will be supporting field-based construction activities associated with major rail and transportation infrastructure projects, including civil construction oversight, contractor coordination, materials management, and construction documentation.Â
This is a long-term, full-time, on-site position located in Wasco, CA. Â
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:Â
- Support field construction oversight activities to help ensure work is performed in accordance with project requirements, specifications, and quality standards.Â
- Coordinate with contractors, inspectors, project teams, and stakeholders to facilitate construction activities and resolve field issues.Â
- Monitor and document civil construction activities involving earthwork, grading, drainage improvements, utility installations, and related infrastructure.Â
- Support oversight of catenary pole foundation and base installation activities.Â
- Assist with oversight of cable trough installation and associated civil construction activities.Â
- Review construction work for compliance with approved plans, specifications, safety requirements, and project procedures.Â
- Track construction progress and provide field reporting, documentation, and status updates.Â
- Coordinate material deliveries, staging, inventory tracking, and field logistics.Â
- Support construction engineering, inspection, and quality assurance activities.Â
- Participate in field meetings, coordination meetings, and contractor progress reviews.Â
- Assist with identifying, documenting, and resolving construction issues and potential risks.Â
- Support project closeout activities, punch list development, and documentation turnover. Â

Minimum QualificationsÂ
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, engineering technology, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.Â
- 2-5 years of experience supporting construction, engineering, inspection, field engineering, owner's representative, program management, or construction management activities on infrastructure projects.Â
- Experience supporting field-based construction activities involving civil infrastructure, transportation, utility, rail, transit, or heavy civil projects.Â
- Experience reviewing plans, specifications, construction documents, and field reports.Â
- Knowledge of construction means and methods, contractor coordination, and field documentation practices.Â
- Experience coordinating with contractors, engineers, inspectors, and project stakeholders.Â
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and construction schedules.Â
- Ability to work full-time in a field-based construction environment.Â
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as required.Â
- Proficiency with construction documentation software, document management systems, and field reporting tools.Â
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite/Office 365 (e.g., Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).Â
Preferred QualificationsÂ
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering.Â
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification. Â
- Experience supporting rail, transit, or railroad infrastructure projects.Â
- Experience supporting catenary systems, utility installations, drainage improvements, earthwork, grading, or track-related infrastructure construction.Â
- Experience supporting Construction Engineering & Inspection (CE&I), owner's representative, or construction management assignments.Â
- Experience with Bluebeam, Procore, Primavera P6, Autodesk Construction Cloud, or similar construction management platforms.Â
Compensation DetailsÂ
Expected Salary: $85k-$115k/year ($41-$55/hour). Luster provides the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might offer for this position based on the successful candidate's level of experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, education, certifications, licenses, geographic location, etc. Luster reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range depending on circumstances not related to any status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.Â
