Job description

Connect Staffing is hiring a Wire Draw Operator for a wire manufacturing plant in Fontana, CA. This is a temp position paying $18.66-$19.66/hr, starting on a Mon-Fri day shift during training before transferring to 2nd shift. In this role, you will set up and operate wire draw machines, draw wire to customer specifications, and inspect finished wire using micrometers and a tensile machine. Occasional overtime may be available after the training period ends.
Pay: $19.66/hr
Schedule: You'll train on first shift (Mon-Fri 6am-2:30pm) then transfer to 2nd shift (2pm start). Occasional overtime may be required.

Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate wire draw machines to produce wire according to customer specifications. You'll also:
  • Adjust machine speed, tension, and lubrication flow to optimize drawing performance
  • Inspect finished wire using micrometers, tensile machines, and other measuring devices to verify surface quality and dimensional accuracy
  • Pick material from the staging area and position it in the designated work area
  • Verify material identification and ensure product to be shipped is properly labeled
  • Report quality or safety issues to a supervisor immediately
  • Read and interpret work orders, measurement documents, and inspection reports

Minimum Requirements
  • 1+ years of machine operating experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in wire manufacturing, metal forming, or cable production environments
  • Ability to read and use precision measuring instruments such as micrometers
  • Familiarity with tensile testing equipment or other mechanical property testing tools
  • Ability to read and interpret work orders, customer specification sheets, and quality documentation
  • Experience setting up and adjusting production machinery to meet dimensional tolerances
  • Knowledge of surface quality inspection methods for drawn metal products
