Job description

Revolution is seeking a Freight Procurement Lead to join our Transportation and Supply Chain team. This position may be remote or hybrid; however, candidates must reside near one of the following locations: Shelbyville, TN; Mesquite, TX; Little Rock, AR; Terre Haute, IN; or Oakdale, MN.

The Freight Procurement Lead will support freight procurement activities across multiple manufacturing and distribution facilities, focusing on carrier sourcing, transportation planning, cost management, and service execution. This individual will serve as a key resource within the Transportation team, partnering closely with Operations, Customer Service, Shipping, Procurement, and Sales to ensure freight capacity is secured efficiently while supporting company service and financial objectives.

The ideal candidate will possess strong transportation and freight procurement experience, advanced analytical skills, and a proven ability to build carrier relationships while operating in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

  • Support transportation procurement activities across multiple manufacturing and distribution sites.
  • Lead carrier sourcing initiatives and support strategic transportation procurement projects.
  • Develop and maintain a diverse carrier network across truckload, LTL, flatbed, rail, intermodal, and dedicated transportation modes.
  • Monitor transportation market conditions, capacity trends, fuel impacts, and carrier performance to proactively manage cost and service.
  • Analyze freight spend, carrier utilization, and lane performance to identify cost-saving and service improvement opportunities.
  • Utilize Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and reporting tools to optimize carrier selection and freight execution.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining carrier scorecards, KPIs, and transportation performance dashboards.
  • Provide weekly and monthly transportation market updates, freight forecasts, and procurement recommendations to leadership.
  • Partner with Shipping, Operations, Customer Service, and Sales teams to improve shipment readiness and transportation efficiency.
  • Support internal fleet scheduling initiatives and maximize utilization of company transportation assets.
  • Ensure compliance with transportation policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and carrier onboarding requirements.
  • Manage carrier documentation, including contracts, certificates of insurance (COI), operating authority verification, and related compliance requirements.
  • Assist with transportation budgeting, freight accruals, and month-end reporting activities.
  • Support freight audit processes and assist in resolving carrier billing discrepancies.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement through mode optimization, load consolidation, routing improvements, and network efficiencies.
  • Perform other transportation and freight procurement-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Operations, Engineering, or related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
  • 3+ years of experience in transportation, freight procurement, logistics, supply chain, or related field.
  • Experience sourcing and negotiating with transportation providers across multiple freight modes.
  • Strong understanding of transportation markets, carrier operations, freight pricing, and capacity management.
  • Experience working within a Transportation Management System (TMS) environment.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, data analysis, reporting, and dashboard creation.
  • Experience utilizing data to drive transportation decisions and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Experience supporting procurement processes, transportation contracts, and carrier performance management.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Proven ability to influence positive change and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Strong customer service orientation and business acumen.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and accountability.
  • Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Experience with Power BI or other business intelligence tools preferred.
  • Manufacturing, distribution, or industrial supply chain experience preferred.
