Job description

Overview

Are you an experienced MiTek Truss Designer looking to work on complex multi-family and commercial projects from anywhere in the U.S.? Join a growing team where you'll design engineered roof and floor truss systems for large-scale residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments while collaborating with experienced designers, sales teams, and project managers.

This is a fully remote opportunity for a designer who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys solving complex structural design challenges.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design multi-family, commercial, and large residential roof and floor truss systems using MiTek Sapphire/Structure.
  • Interpret architectural, structural, and engineering drawings to develop accurate and efficient truss placement layouts and engineered truss designs.
  • Optimize designs for structural performance, manufacturability, material efficiency, and cost while complying with applicable building codes and company design standards.
  • Design complex framing conditions, including long-span trusses, girder trusses, hip roofs, vaulted ceilings, and multi-level floor systems.
  • Specify all required hardware, hangers, connectors, bearings, and engineered components.
  • Coordinate directly with Sales, Project Managers, Architects, Engineers, and Customers to resolve design issues and ensure successful project execution.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, revisions, and job tracking throughout the design process.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while consistently meeting production schedules and customer deadlines.
  • Participate in design reviews and collaborate with manufacturing teams to improve quality, efficiency, and constructability.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 3+ years of professional truss design experience, including multi-family and commercial projects.
  • Advanced proficiency with MiTek Sapphire, MiTek Structure, or MiTek engineering software.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial wood framing, engineered wood products (EWP), roof systems, floor systems, and structural load paths.
  • Experience reading and interpreting complex architectural, structural, and engineering plans.
  • Working knowledge of IBC, IRC, ANSI/TPI 1, and applicable building codes.
  • Ability to independently manage multiple high-value projects with minimal supervision.
  • Strong communication skills with experience collaborating remotely across multiple departments.
  • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
