What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote First employee, and why are they important?

To thrive in a Remote First role, you need strong self-management, digital communication, and time management skills, often supported by prior remote work experience and proficiency in collaborative platforms. Familiarity with tools like Slack, Zoom, project management software, and secure remote access systems is crucial. Proactive communication, adaptability, and self-motivation are standout soft skills for remote environments. These abilities ensure productivity, collaboration, and accountability without direct in-person supervision.

What are the main challenges and benefits of working in a remote-first company environment?

Working in a remote-first company offers flexibility and the opportunity to collaborate with a diverse team from various locations, but it also presents unique challenges. Remote employees often need to be proactive communicators and manage their own schedules to stay productive, as daily interactions can be less spontaneous than in a traditional office. Building strong relationships and maintaining team cohesion requires intentional effort through digital tools and regular virtual meetings. However, remote-first environments typically provide autonomy, support for work-life balance, and access to roles regardless of geographic location, making them appealing for many professionals.

What does 'Remote First' mean in the context of jobs?

'Remote First' refers to a work policy or company culture where working remotely is the default mode of operation. Employees are encouraged or expected to work from locations outside of a traditional office, and company systems, communication, and workflows are designed to support remote work. While some in-person workspaces may be available, they are typically optional or secondary. This approach allows for greater flexibility, access to a broader talent pool, and often improved work-life balance for employees.

Job description

On StackAdapt's Product team, you will build products that help our customers thrive. There is no "standard" day for a Product Manager at StackAdapt - every day will have its own set of interesting challenges.

Audiences are the people and devices that brands want and need to target programmatically to grow their business. As a Product Manager focused on the Audience team, you will own the strategy and execution of products that surface high-quality vertical audiences for our clients. You will work closely with data science, partnerships, engineering, and go-to-market teams to turn complex datasets into curated, usable audiences that deliver clear value to advertisers. You have experience shipping successful digital products and are obsessed with details. You have a bias for data-informed decisions and creating clarity out of ambiguity. This role reports to the Director of Product. StackAdapt is a remote-first company, and we are open to candidates located anywhere in the US or Canada for this position.

What You'll Be Doing:
  • Research, understand, and validate stakeholder needs and translate that into a path that aligns with our goals and vision.
  • Develop a short and long-term vision for your portfolio, which helps you forge ahead, ensuring that we're accomplishing our goals day by day.
  • Be hyper-focused on every last detail, ensuring we're always working on the most impactful feature.
  • Deliver products end-to-end with a team of talented engineers and designers.
  • Communicate precisely across the organization to ensure everyone who needs to be informed is at the correct time.
  • Deliver a world-class experience to help our customers target the right audiences regardless of vertical.
  • Resolve questions about your portfolio of products from customer-facing teams, as well as help to triage bugs and regressions as they appear.
What You'll Bring to the Table
  • Proven experience shipping products as a Product Manager at a digital SaaS company (and can speak to your successes) is a must.
  • Prior experience with advertising technologies and AdTech is a must.
  • Prior experience working with programmatic audiences.
  • Understand Product Management craft and theory. You can speak intelligently about Product Management practices and have the practical experience to back it up.
  • You live in the weeds and can speak about how you can zoom in and out as needed to optimize our process as effectively as possible.
  • Wearing multiple hats is second nature to you; one minute, you could be talking technical details on a ticket, and the next you're presenting your ideas to the Revenue team without skipping a beat.
  • An in-depth understanding of Lean and Agile best practices.
  • An in-depth understanding of design thinking, inclusive design, and usability heuristics.
  • You prioritize projects with reason, clarity, and purpose - ensuring alignment across stakeholders and focusing on the KPIs and metrics you're moving.
  • You understand what it means to lead by influence, not formal authority.
