What is remote filing?

Remote filing is the process of submitting and managing documents electronically from a location outside of a traditional office setting. This method allows individuals or businesses to file paperwork, such as legal documents, tax forms, or business registrations, over the internet using secure online platforms. Remote filing improves efficiency by reducing the need for in-person visits and physical paperwork. It is commonly used in various industries, including legal, finance, and government, to streamline operations and support remote work.

Job description

Litigation Attorney (Contract/ 1099)

Boutique Downtown Law Firm – Kansas City Area

Remote Part-Time | 10–15 Hours/Week | No Set Schedule

A well-established boutique law firm with an active litigation practice in downtown Kansas City is seeking a contract Litigation Attorney to support their caseload as needed. They are a small office with experienced attorneys and staff that handles commercial litigation matters for a clientele largely compromised of entrepreneurs and small and mid-sized businesses. They do most of their work on the plaintiff’s side on both a contingent-fee and hourly basis.

To be successful in this role, you must be a strong writer, researcher and communicator, and able to interact confidently and professionally with clients and other attorneys. You must be licensed to practice in either Kansas or Missouri.

Although this is a remote position, some in-office work may be required so you must be located within an easy driving distance of downtown Kansas City, Missouri.

Your primary duties will be to:

  • Draft legal filings
  • Draft legal memoranda
  • Draft and respond to written discovery
  • Interact with and gather information from clients and potential clients
  • Review documents

Candidates should have at least 3 years of experience in litigation although the ideal candidate is someone with more experience who has decided to step away from full-time legal work.

The benefits of working with the firm include:

  • FLEXIBILITY. We know people have lives outside the office, and we trust you to get your work done around those life responsibilities.
  • The opportunity to BE PART OF A TEAM. The success of our firm is built around teamwork, with everyone doing everything they can to achieve a good outcome for the client. Despite your contract attorney status, you will be treated as a valuable member of our team.
