What is a remote fastener sales?

A Remote Fastener Sales job involves selling fasteners—such as screws, bolts, nuts, and related hardware—while working remotely, often from home. Professionals in this role communicate with customers via phone, email, or video calls to understand their needs and provide product recommendations. They may also handle order processing, develop new client relationships, and provide technical support about fastener products. Strong knowledge of fastener types and applications, as well as good sales and communication skills, are important for success in this position.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote fastener sales professional?

To thrive as a Remote Fastener Sales professional, you need a strong background in sales, product knowledge of fasteners, and experience in B2B client relationship management, often supported by a relevant degree or equivalent experience. Familiarity with CRM platforms, online order management systems, and virtual communication tools is typically essential. Exceptional communication, self-motivation, and problem-solving abilities help you stand out when working independently and building client trust remotely. These skills ensure effective sales processes, customer satisfaction, and sustained business growth in a competitive, remote-driven industry.

What are some common challenges faced in a remote fastener sales role and how can they be addressed?

A common challenge in remote fastener sales is building and maintaining strong customer relationships without frequent face-to-face interactions. Successful sales professionals overcome this by leveraging virtual communication tools, providing prompt responses, and offering expert product knowledge. Additionally, staying organized and proactive in follow-ups is key to managing a dispersed client base effectively. Collaborating closely with internal teams, such as logistics and technical support, also helps ensure customers receive accurate information and timely deliveries.

Job description

Sales Representative, Screw Products, Inc. – Oregon

Become the face of an international company in Oregon

Introduction

Have you built relationships in the construction, building materials, hardware, manufacturing, or distribution industry and wondered what might be next?

Screw Products, Inc. (SPI) is looking for a motivated, curious, and relationship-oriented person to represent and grow our business throughout Oregon.

You don't necessarily need a traditional sales background. In fact, some of our most successful employees joined us from completely different career paths.

What matters most is that you enjoy working with people, solving problems, taking ownership, and building long-term relationships.

About the Role

As the Sales Representative for Oregon, you will be responsible for maintaining and growing SPI's business throughout the state. You'll work closely with retailers, distributors, wholesalers, and other industry partners while developing new opportunities and strengthening existing relationships.

This is a highly active field-based position. Most of your time will be spent on the road meeting existing and prospective customers, identifying opportunities, and turning those opportunities into business.

You will receive comprehensive training from the current Oregon representative and our Group Sales team and technical engineers.

What You Will Do

• Manage and develop SPI product sales throughout Oregon

• Build strong, long-term relationships with retailers, distributors and customers

• Visit existing and prospective customers regularly and maintain a high level of market activity

• Identify opportunities to grow sales and profitability

• Develop new business opportunities, follow them through, and convert them into results

• Collaborate with colleagues in North America and globally

Who We're Looking For

We care more about who you are than what job title you have today. Previous sales experience is welcome, but it is not required. Experience from any of the below sectors is a plus:

• Construction

• Building materials

• Hardware retail

• Distribution

• Manufacturing

• Industrial supply

• Customer-facing technical roles

The Type of Person Who Thrives Here

The people who succeed with us are often those who never planned a career in sales. They enjoy meeting people, creating opportunities, and have the drive to turn strong relationships into business results. If you've worked with contractors, builders, distributors, retailers, or other business customers and think, 'I could do this,' we'd love to hear from you.

Why Join SPI?

• Represent well-established products with a strong reputation

• Enjoy the freedom of managing your own territory

• Join a growing international organization

• Receive comprehensive training and support

• Be part of a family-owned business that values long-term relationships

• Benefit from future career growth opportunities within the group
