Transcendent Healing Psychology Practice is seeking a licensed Geriatric Mental Health Counselor to join our dedicated team of professionals focused on improving the mental well-being of older adults. This full-time remote position allows you to work closely with our specialized geriatric psychiatry team, addressing a variety of mental health concerns such as depression, anxiety, dementia-related disorders, and complications related to adjustment challenges among senior patients.

This position is remote, providing a flexible work setting that allows our mental health therapists to connect with clients in the comfort of their homes. You will enjoy a structured work schedule from Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with the understanding that occasional evening shifts may be necessary to accommodate client needs.

• Conduct thorough mental health assessments tailored to the specific needs and challenges of older adults, utilizing a patient-centered approach.
• Develop and implement personalized treatment plans that consider the cognitive decline, physical health, and social circumstances of each elderly patient.
• Provide individual and family therapy sessions that leverage evidence-based interventions to effectively manage conditions prevalent in geriatric psychiatry.
• Work collaboratively with geriatric psychiatrists, nursing staff, and other professionals within a multidisciplinary team to ensure integrated care approaches.
• Offer crisis intervention and support during mental health emergencies, demonstrating quick decision-making skills to safeguard patient well-being.
• Educate patients and their families about mental health conditions, treatment methodologies, and external community resources that may assist them.
• Maintain accurate, up-to-date, and confidential client documentation in compliance with both legal and ethical standards, utilizing appropriate electronic health record (EHR) systems.
• Actively participate in team meetings and case management discussions to stay aligned with organizational goals and strategies.
• Engage in professional development opportunities to further expertise and knowledge in geriatric mental health.

Your primary focus will be on the geriatric population, addressing complex mental health issues that arise with aging. You will work closely with elderly clients experiencing varied mental health challenges, ensuring that treatment plans are sensitive to each individual's life experiences, cognitive changes, and social dynamics, thus enhancing their overall quality of life.

• A Master’s degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
• A current and valid state license as an LCSW, LPCC, or LMFT.
• A minimum of two years of post-licensure experience in mental health counseling.
• Extensive knowledge of geriatric psychiatric disorders and familiarity with best practices in treatment modalities.
• Proven experience in delivering therapeutic services tailored for older adults, emphasizing empathy and understanding in client interactions.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, enabling effective relationships with both patients and their families.
• Competency in using electronic health record systems and general computer applications for documentation workload.
• Capability to work well in a collaborative team environment with an emphasis on integrated patient care.

• Experience in crisis intervention and management, particularly in relation to geriatric clients.
• Involvement in community outreach programs that promote mental health awareness and resources.
• Continuing education or certifications specific to geriatric mental health treatment.
