Emerging Technologies Researcher
The Opportunity:
Develop, implement and assess specific new and emerging technologies, platforms, and services. Apply leading-edge principles, theories, and concepts and contribute to the development of new principles and concepts. Work on unusually complex problems and provides highly innovative solutions.
As the Emerging Technologies Researcher, you will lead research and architectural evaluation efforts to identify innovative solutions that support agency modernization. This role involves translating complex technical concepts, such as Artificial Intelligence, quantum computing, and edge architectures, into actionable insights for senior leadership. The primary focus is to ensure that technological integrations directly enhance core mission operations and address complex border security challenges through advanced infrastructure modernization.
What You'll Work On:
  • Technology Research: Conduct comprehensive research into emerging technologies, including agentic AI, multi-agent systems, and spatial computing, to evaluate their feasibility and benefit to agency operations.
  • Content Development: Author technical white papers, architectural assessments, and strategic roadmaps that detail the potential impact of new solutions.
  • Executive Briefings: Develop and deliver high-level briefings for senior leadership, providing clear, data-driven recommendations for technology adoption.
  • Ad-Hoc Technical Support: Provide rapid-response analysis on complex, evolving technical topics and taskers as required by the mission.
  • AI Governance: Assist in the development of frameworks for the ethical and effective governance of AI systems within the federal environment.
  • Mission Alignment: Ensure all research and proposed technical integrations are strategically aligned with the goals of enhancing CBP infrastructure and mission effectiveness.
  • Federal Compliance: Ensure all deliverables and research methodologies adhere to federal standards, security protocols, and documentation requirements.

You Have:
  • Experience researching and evaluating emerging technologies, including AI, Edge Computing, or Quantum
  • Experience with technical writing and producing white papers, decks, and strategic reports for government or enterprise clients
  • Experience with AI governance frameworks and the implementation of large-scale AI solutions
  • Knowledge of federal IT standards, Enterprise Architecture (EA) frameworks, and government procurement processes
  • Ability to manage ad-hoc, high-priority taskers in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to provide actionable insights for infrastructure modernization
  • Ability to present complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical senior executives
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Suitability/Fitness determination based on client requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a Computer Science or Information Technology field and 8+ years of experience in technical project management or technology strategy, or 10+ years of experience in technical project management or technology strategy in lieu of a degree

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $99,000.00 to $225,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen's total compensation package for employees. This posting will close within 90 days from the Posting Date.
