Job description

Job Summaryย 

This position involves the design of electrical power distribution, motor control, lighting, and grounding systems projects of various size, complexity, and criticality. Primarily for water/wastewater and municipal facilities. The candidate will have a broad range of responsibilities, which include interacting with clients and leading electrical projects in collaboration with other engineering professionals across enterprise in a hybrid or remote mode, participating in new business development activities.

In this role, your primary design delivery responsibilities will include conceptual and detailed design development on projects involving low-voltage and medium-voltage electrical distribution systems, selection of equipment and technical specifications preparation, field investigations, development of contract drawings using 2D and 3D design approaches, and support of projects during construction, both in the office and in the field.

This position offers the potential to collaborate with seasoned local and national teams and the opportunity for significant professional growth.

Responsibilitiesย 

  • Designย low-voltage (typically up to 480V) and medium-voltage (typically up to 15kV)ย electrical power distribution systemsย including switchgear, switchboards, motor control centers, distribution panels, and transformers.ย 
  • Oversee the design of conduit, duct bank, and cable tray systems.ย 
  • Coordinate the design of lighting systems.ย 
  • Coordinate with civil, structural, and mechanical disciplines.ย 
  • Prepareย constructionย specifications forย electrical equipmentย and systems.ย 
  • Performย engineering services during constructionย including submittal review and responding to requests for information (RFIs).ย 
  • Carry out shortย circuit, protective device coordination, and arc flash studies.ย 
  • Planย and track electrical scope, schedule, and budgetย at the project level.ย 
  • Flexibility to adapt and execute variousย additionalย assignments based on evolving needs.ย

  • Minimum of 8yearsโ€™ experience as an Electrical Engineer working for government, municipal, and/or industrial water and wastewater industries.ย 
  • Experience in electrical power systems design and specificationsย includingย service entrance, feeder and branch circuits, lighting, grounding, power distribution,ย andย standby power equipment,ย 
  • Solid knowledge in the application of the National Electrical Code.ย 
  • Solid knowledge and understanding of electricalsafetyย including,NFPA 70Eย andย NFPA 820.ย 
  • Experience inย short-circuit, protective device coordination, and arc flashย studies and calculationsutilizingย SKM or ETAP.ย 
  • Proficiencyย in Revitย and AutoCADย 
  • Able to multi-task, be enthusiastic, be self-motivated, and work independently with a willingness to learn.ย 
  • Self-starter, results-oriented, takesย ownership of their work, andย is ableย toย work under tight deadlinesย and budgets.ย 
  • Ability to attend client meetings and site visits forย theย design andย constructionย ofย Northern Californiaย projects.ย 
  • Effective oral and written communicationย skills.ย 

Salary Range:ย Theย anticipatedย starting payย range for this position is based on the employeeโ€™s primary work location and mayย beย more or lessย dependingย upon skills, experience,ย and education.ย  These ranges may be modified in the future.ย ย ย 

Location A: $95,000 - $129,000
Location B: $104,000 - $142,000
Location C: $114,000 - $155,000
