What are we looking for?

The Engineer - Medical Device Electrical Safety is responsible for performing electrical testing and evaluation on a variety of products to the provisions of U.S., Canadian and other international product safety standards; writing reports; and communicating with clients. Under the guidance of a more senior Engineer, may also conduct on and off-site evaluations of products to determine compliance with applicable standard(s). The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in engineering, preferably Electrical Engineering or Biomedical Engineering and will be engaging, have good interpersonal skills, high energy, high sense of urgency, and be adept at wearing many hats in one day. 

Salary & Benefits Information

The salary range for this position is $65K - $75K. Individual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related reasons.

What you'll do:

  • Read and determine applicability of national codes and standards clauses for the EUT (equipment under test).
  • Read and understand schematics and manufacturing instructions.

  • Validate the project scope and sample applicability.
  • Validate the project scope and sample applicability.

  • Complete preliminary design reviews (PDR) both on and off site.
  • Develop, set up, and follow established test plans.
  • Perform testing of products in accordance with standards. Core tests include, but are not limited to:  rating, leakage current, dielectric, temperature, pressure, stability, mechanical hazard, flammability, etc.
  • Will develop expertise in IEC 60601. 
  • Communicate project status and test results to client, sales personnel, and management throughout testing.
  • Provide on-going support to clients as needed.
  • Perform other work as required.

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • Must be detailed-oriented and able to effectively prioritize and organize workload, with efficient time management

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to make technical decisions and engineering judgments independently within established parameters
  • Ability to communicate and interact effectively in both verbal and written format

  • Must be self-motivated and able to work independently in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment
  • Physical dexterity to perform the clerical and technical functions which are inherent to the position
  • Physical dexterity to operate equipment and perform other functions necessary to effectively and efficiently perform the duties of the job.  This may include bending/stooping, turning/twisting, reaching, balancing, and mobility to travel to other work sites.
  • Ability to travel as business needs dictate, up to 25%
  • Must possess a valid unrestricted driver's license and clean driving record
  • Microsoft Office expertise

Preferred Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering
  • Electrical experience with strong software capabilities
