The Department of Economic Security, Division of Employment and Rehabilitation Services (DERS) strengthens Arizona communities by bridging and minimizing gaps to employment and independence.
DES is seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our team as an Apprenticeship and Training Representative with the Workforce Solutions Administration (WSA). This position is responsible for providing a wide range of services to engage, assess, advise, and assist Arizona businesses in meeting their workforce needs through registered apprenticeship program as defined by Title 29 CFR Part 29, Apprenticeship Programs, Labor Standards for Registration, Amendment of Regulations. Emphasis is on the promotion, development, and maintenance of registered apprenticeships for a wide variety of professions and companies. The position has assigned responsibility for a designated assigned geographic or industry-specific area. Services are provided through 1:1 or group interactions and will include client-facing, virtual/digital, and/or telephonic means. Services provided are tailored to each Arizona Business's unique needs. This position will be required to utilize a business methodology that drives continuous improvement.
Must be willing and able to travel to multiple locations throughout an assigned geographic area.
This position may offer the ability to work remotely, within Arizona, based upon the department's business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures.

Job Duties:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Provide a wide range of recruitment-related services to engage, assess, advise, and assist Arizona businesses in meeting their workforce needs.
• Identify training needs, evaluate applications, coordinate development of new programs, and develop emerging trades.
• Provide technical guidance on effective maintenance and improvement of existing programs.
• Act as the voice of the business customer by supporting employment counselors and career advisors with an understanding of current and emerging workforce needs to create awareness for job seekers on apprenticeship opportunities, utilizing in-person meetings.
• Collaborate with workforce development partners & team members, Public Information Officers, and community organizations to expand, promote, and assist apprenticeship opportunities.
• Use databases to complete and maintain accurate records and reports mandated by various laws, rules, and federal regulations.
• Attend training, agency meetings, & work groups required by program assignment.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):
Knowledge in:
• Effective recruitment, retention, and workforce development methodologies applicable to business.
• Basic research, data gathering and interpretation and problem-solving techniques.
• Event planning and management, including communication and collaboration with key partners.
Skill in:
• Customer service, teamwork, collaboration, and interpersonal communication.
• Written and verbal communication, including public speaking, and presentation.
• Proficiency with MS Office, Google, database systems, and computers; and technology-based platforms that interface directly with applicants and job seekers such as Google Meets, Zoom, and other videoconferencing technologies to meet with clients, partners, and peers.
Ability to:
• Plan and organize work in accordance with division priorities and time management methodology.
• Work effectively independently and as a member of diverse teams.
• Develop, maintain, and grow relationships with diverse businesses.
Selective Preference(s):
The ideal candidate for this position will have:
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2-year public contact, professional work, customer service work experience, employment counseling, or recruitment.
Pre-Employment Requirements:
• Successfully pass background and reference checks; employment is contingent upon completion of the above-mentioned process and the agency's ability to reasonably accommodate any restrictions.
• All newly hired State employees are subject to and must successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify).
• Travel will be required for State business. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver's license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver's license record checks. The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on State business are subject to driver's license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on State business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code [A.A.C.] R2-10-207.11).

Retirement:
State employees are required to participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS), the State sponsored retirement contribution plan and the Long-Term Disability (LTD) program after a 27-week waiting period. The ASRS defined benefit plan provides for life-long income upon retirement. You will also have the option to participate in a voluntary deferred compensation program to take advantage of tax-deferred retirement investments.
