Vice President, Business Development and Strategy

Position Overview

This role will be responsible for identifying, evaluating, and implementing a broad range of opportunities that accelerate the company’s growth, and expand our capabilities and market presence, and reputation for excellence with our followers and other key partners. 

The ideal candidate combines strong financial and analytical skills with an understanding of luxury retail, consumer brands, ecommerce, and omnichannel business models. The role requires someone who can move comfortably between detailed financial analysis and high-level strategic thinking and who can take an opportunity from initial concept through execution.


Key Responsibilities

M&A and Strategic Investments

  • Identify and evaluate potential acquisition targets, strategic investments, and partnerships aligned with the company’s growth strategy.
  • Manage the M&A process from initial target identification and outreach through due diligence, valuation, negotiation, transaction execution, and post-closing integration.
  • Coordinate cross-functional due diligence (e.g., financial, operational, commercial)
  • Own the project until transitioned to core team

Strategic Growth

  • Evaluate opportunities to expand into new categories, geographies, channels, and customer segments.
  • Develop strategic perspectives on evolving luxury consumer behavior, retail formats, competitive dynamics, and emerging business models.
  • Take ownership of special projects that have significant strategic or financial importance to the company.

Financial and Strategic Analysis

  • Build financial models to evaluate strategic alternatives and investment opportunities.
  • Analyze business performance (e.g., unit economics, customer/follower acquisition and retention, and other key retail metrics).
  • Conduct sensitivity analyses and clearly communicate key risks and assumptions.
 

Qualifications

Required

  • 5-10 years of relevant experience in retail, corporate development, investment banking, private equity, strategy consulting, or a combination thereof.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field 
  • Strong financial modeling and analytical skills.
  • Excellent understanding of financial statements and business economics.
  • Exceptional Excel and PowerPoint skills.
  • Ability to synthesize complex financial and strategic information  
  • Strong project-management skills and ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • High level of intellectual curiosity, judgment, discretion, and attention to detail.
 

Preferred

  • Experience in luxury goods, specialty retail, ecommerce, or omnichannel businesses.
  • Experience working with founder-led, entrepreneurial, or high-growth companies.
  • Familiarity with luxury consumer behavior, premium brand positioning, and the dynamics of physical retail and digital commerce.
  • Experience with post-merger integration.
  • Experience evaluating and executing M&A or strategic investment transactions.
