Remote Early Stage Startup information

What is a remote early stage startup?

A remote early stage startup is a newly founded company that operates primarily online, with team members working from different locations rather than in a physical office. These startups are in the initial phases of business development, often focusing on building a product, acquiring their first customers, and securing investments. Remote early stage startups leverage digital communication and collaboration tools to coordinate work and scale their business. Working remotely allows them to access a wider talent pool and reduce overhead costs, but it also presents unique challenges in communication and team cohesion.

What are some common challenges of working at a remote early stage startup, and how can I prepare for them?

Working at a remote early stage startup often means wearing multiple hats, adapting quickly to change, and managing ambiguity. You'll likely encounter a fast-paced environment where priorities shift rapidly and processes may not be fully established yet. To thrive, it's important to be proactive in communication, comfortable with self-management, and open to taking initiative on a variety of tasks. Building strong virtual relationships with your team and seeking regular feedback can help you stay aligned and contribute effectively to the company's growth.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in a remote early stage startup, and why are they important?

To thrive in a remote early-stage startup, you need a strong entrepreneurial mindset, problem-solving abilities, and versatility across multiple business functions, often supported by relevant experience or a background in startups. Familiarity with collaboration tools like Slack, project management platforms (e.g., Trello, Asana), and cloud-based productivity suites is typically expected. Exceptional communication, self-motivation, and adaptability are crucial soft skills for managing ambiguity and working independently in a fast-evolving environment. These skills are essential for driving growth, maintaining productivity, and ensuring effective teamwork amid rapid change and limited resources.

About the role
As Crane OEM Account Manager you would drive specification and long-term growth of Bridon® steel rope solutions within OEM crane manufacturers in North America.
Act as the key commercial and technical interface, influencing early-stage design decisions and securing preferred platform positions. Deliver sustainable growth through a combination of technical expertise, strategic account management, and project development.
Your Impact as Crane OEM Account Manager
  • Own and develop strategic relationships with OEM crane manufacturers across North America, driving platform penetration and long-term agreements.
  • Lead specification activities by partnering with OEM engineering teams to position Bridon® as the preferred technical solution.
  • Work directly with OEM engineering teams to redesign rope systems to increase safety and performance. Introduce advanced technologies (rotation-resistant ropes, high-performance designs, etc.)
  • Influence early-stage design and new product development to embed Bekaert solutions into future crane platforms.
  • Act as a technical-commercial partner, supporting testing, validation, and optimization of rope systems (safety, performance, TCO).
  • Identify and develop strategic crane-related projects (infrastructure, ports, energy, industrial, defense). Work with EPCs, Architectural firms & key infrastructure stakeholders.
  • Deliver commercial growth by expanding share of wallet, converting competitors, and developing pricing and partnership strategies.
  • Coordinate cross-functionally with Segment leader, Technical & Quality teams, Operations supply, chain and Business Development to ensure end-to-end execution from specification to delivery.
  • Monitor OEM platform trends, crane design changes, and industry developments. Track competitor activity within OEM accounts.
  • Provide structured insights on: Platform changes, Technology shifts and Pricing dynamics

About You
Essential skills & competencies
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Business Administration, Sales, or Marketing (or equivalent experience).
  • 3-5 years of experience in sales, key account management, or technical commercial roles.
  • Industry experience in Crane OEMs, Automotive, or project-based environments; experience with steel ropes is a strong advantage.
  • Strong customer orientation with the ability to build and maintain long-term strategic relationships.
  • Proven negotiation, pricing, and commercial decision-making skills.
  • Strong project management capabilities with experience handling complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives.
  • Analytical skills in market assessment, opportunity identification, and competitive analysis.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage technical and senior stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills, including forecasting, reporting, and activity tracking.
  • Financial discipline in managing travel and entertainment budgets.
  • High level of adaptability, willingness to travel up to 40% across North America (US, Canada, Mexico).
  • Competitive mindset with a strong drive to win and deliver results.
  • Eagerness to learn, grow, and develop within a technical-commercial environment.
  • Ideally based within the assigned territory in North America.

What is in it for you?
  • A Competitive salary with Benefits.
  • Learning programs developed by our L&D department.
  • A great opportunity to play your part in an international growth story.
  • A chance to grow along with your responsibilities (national or international).
  • Cool colleagues all over the world.

Be bold and take the leap!
