As a Payroll Tax Processor, is a key team member who handles day-to-day processing across a high-volume workload. We are looking for a detail-oriented, customer-focused team player with hands-on experience working with tax notices, payroll corrections, and amended returns, who is eager to learn from senior colleagues while continuing to build their foundational tax knowledge. Your Responsibilities

  • Deliver accurate resolution of routine payroll tax notices by following documented procedures and knowledge-base guidance, escalating anything outside scripted scenarios

  • Support routine monthly, quarterly, and annual tax compliance activities by reviewing records and verifying data Prepare and submit payroll amendments and supporting documentation based on analysis of customer requests and audit findings

  • Maintain organized documentation

  • Collaborate with team members to support cross-functional tax processing workflows and meet operational deadlines

  • Formally coach Tax Processors across levels through structured training sessions and documented development plans, distinct from EX4's informal peer coaching

  • Represent the Payroll Tax Processing team's perspective in cross-functional planning sessions and meetings with Product, Engineering, and Compliance partners

  • Identify systemic patterns across the team's case queue and recommend and help implement process, tooling, or product improvements — the team-wide counterpart to EX4's case-level corrective actions

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of relevant experience in payroll operations, payroll tax processing, accounting, or a related field
  • Strong attention to detail with demonstrated ability to work accurately in a high-volume environment
  • Proficiency with accounting principles, financial reconciliation, and tax software applications
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, able to explain standard filing requirements to customers and peers
  • Independently own resolution of the most complex tax notices, multi-jurisdictional issues, and penalty abatements, applying deep regulatory expertise with minimal supervision
  • Serve as the team's escalation point for complex, non-precedented cases; determine root cause and resolution path where no established procedure exists
  • Conduct audits of payroll records for compliance, identifying control gaps and recommending corrective action for the specific cases and accounts involved (case-level — see Discussion Point 6 for the boundary with EX5's systemic scope)
  • Proven ability to translate ambiguous, high-stakes tax and compliance matters into clear recommendations for leadership and cross-functional partners
  • Comfortable with using AI (artificial intelligence) in order to complete daily tasks
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
