Remote Discovery Research information

What is remote discovery research?

Remote Discovery Research is a method of conducting user or market research without requiring participants or researchers to be physically present in the same location. This approach uses digital tools such as online surveys, video interviews, remote usability testing, and analytics to gather insights about user needs, behaviors, and preferences. Remote Discovery Research enables companies to reach a broader and more diverse audience, save on travel costs, and collect data more efficiently. It’s commonly used in UX research, product development, and market analysis to inform decision making and design.

How does a remote discovery researcher typically collaborate with cross-functional teams despite working remotely?

Remote Discovery Researchers frequently collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers through virtual meetings, shared documents, and collaborative platforms. Regular video calls, digital whiteboarding sessions, and asynchronous communication tools are used to align research goals, share findings, and integrate insights into the product development process. Effective communication and proactive updates are essential to ensure all team members are informed and engaged, even when working from different locations or time zones.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote discovery researcher, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Discovery Researcher, you need strong analytical skills, experience in qualitative and quantitative research methods, and typically a degree in social sciences or a related field. Familiarity with remote research tools like online survey platforms (e.g., Qualtrics), video conferencing software, and data analysis tools (e.g., NVivo, SPSS) is essential. Excellent communication, adaptability, and self-motivation are vital soft skills for collaborating virtually and managing projects independently. These competencies ensure rigorous, actionable insights are delivered efficiently, even when working remotely.

As the leading AI platform for accounting firms, Suralink serves more than 50% of the top 100 enterprise accounting firms in the United States and has over 800,000 users globally.

Our mission is to empower the people we serve to redefine the meaning of efficiency in the accounting technology industry. Our award-winning SaaS platform was built for CPA firms, providing a simple, secure way to manage audit, tax, and advisory engagements.

Recognized for growth, innovation, and culture, we foster a highly collaborative, remote-first environment where exceptional, motivated professionals can make a meaningful impact. If you're passionate about building relationships and driving growth at a fast-growing SaaS company, we'd love to talk with you

Who we are looking for:

We’re looking for a Sr. Product Manager who is relentlessly customer-obsessed and driven to deeply understand the needs of CPA firms, their users, and clients through direct engagement, discovery research, and rapid experimentation. You’ll translate those insights into a clear product strategy and roadmap across multiple product areas, shaping how the industry works while accelerating Suralink’s growth.

You’ll own and execute the entire product development lifecycle, using data as a guide to move quickly with strong judgment, and collaborate cross-functionally to ship impactful B2B SaaS products that deliver measurable customer and business outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Customer Partnership: You’ll directly engage with current and future customers to gain a deep understanding of firm/user needs and market dynamics. Your customer obsession will serve as your north star.

  • Discovery Research: You’ll utilize a strong tool belt of discovery methodologies to run experiments and analyze data to guide decision making.

  • Strategy and Roadmap: With your expert knowledge of our customers, you’ll identify and shape the product initiatives that transform the way the CPA industry accomplishes their work and advances Suralink’s product strategy for multiple product areas across the product portfolio.

  • Cross Functional Team Work: You’ll closely collaborate with Sales, Marketing, Customer Success, Product Design, and Engineering to ensure our end-to-end ideation and execution is aligned, informed, and set up for success.

  • Product Evangelism: You’ll become an expert in Suralink’s product to champion how use cases, product capabilities, and value connect to drive internal team knowledge and customer adoption that results in both Suralink and customers realizing business KPIs.

Experience and Professional Qualifications:

  • 5+ years in a Product Manager role, with at least some B2B SaaS.

  • Subjective matter expertise in Audit or Tax is a bonus.

  • Proven Success: You have a track record of delivering impactful results across both 0-1 and scaling products.

  • Leadership: You can inspire and align those around you to achieve common goals.

  • Bias for Action: Your default is pushing the pace, quickly making one way door decisions, understanding that all else equal, velocity will make the difference of winning.

  • Embracing AI: You’re accustomed to using AI for everything from insight identification to prototyping to PRDs to optimize your time and focus your energy on human ingenuity.

  • Navigating Ambiguity: You’re at peace in high ambiguity, understanding how to find a path to clarity with incomplete information. You’re skilled in risk-based decision making and thinking through nth-order effects.

At Suralink, our values guide everything we do:

  • Customer Obsessed: We seek to understand those we serve deeply and are committed to serving them better than anyone else.

  • Passionately Motivated: We care about what we do, which drives us to work hard, show grit, and go above and beyond to achieve great outcomes.

  • Constantly Improving: We are eager to learn and grow. Challenges are opportunities to innovate and enhance our solutions.

  • Team Focused: We know that our success is built together. We support one another and celebrate team achievements.

  • Highly Reliable: We demonstrate good judgment, honor our commitments, and are accountable for our results.
