What is a remote director of creative operations?

A Remote Director of Creative Operations is a senior leader responsible for overseeing the workflow, processes, and team management within a creative department, all while working remotely. Their main duties include managing creative projects, optimizing operational processes, and ensuring that creative teams deliver high-quality work on time and within budget. They often bridge the gap between creative vision and business objectives, coordinating with stakeholders and ensuring efficient resource allocation. Because the role is remote, strong skills in digital communication and project management are crucial for success.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote director of creative operations?

To thrive as a Remote Director of Creative Operations, you need expertise in project management, creative strategy, and team leadership, often supported by a degree in marketing, communications, or a related field. Familiarity with project management tools (like Asana or Trello), digital asset management systems, and workflow automation platforms is typically required. Exceptional communication, problem-solving, and the ability to motivate and coordinate remote teams are vital soft skills for this role. These competencies ensure creative projects are delivered efficiently, align with business goals, and foster collaboration across distributed teams.

How does a remote director of creative operations effectively coordinate projects and teams across different locations and time zones?

As a Remote Director of Creative Operations, you'll need to establish clear communication channels and standardized workflows to ensure projects run smoothly across distributed teams. Utilizing project management tools, setting regular check-ins, and fostering a transparent feedback culture are essential for aligning creative teams and meeting deadlines. Adapting to various time zones may require flexible scheduling and asynchronous collaboration, making strong organizational and interpersonal skills critical. This approach not only keeps projects on track but also builds a cohesive, high-performing creative environment despite physical distances.

Job description

Hims & Hers is the leading health and wellness platform, on a mission to help the world feel great through the power of better health. We are redefining healthcare by putting the customer first and delivering access to care that is affordable, accessible, and personal, from diagnosis to treatment to delivery. No two people are the same, so we provide access to personalized care designed for results. By normalizing health & wellness challenges and innovating on their solutions, we're making better health outcomes easier to achieve.
Hims & Hers is a public company, traded on the NYSE under the ticker symbol "HIMS." To learn more about the brand and offerings, you can visit hims.com/about and hims.com/how-it-works . For information on the company's outstanding benefits, culture, and its talent-first flexible/remote work approach, see below and visit www.hims.com/careers-professionals.
About the Role:
At Hims & Hers, we know that telling empathetic, engaging, and uplifting stories about health is how we make people comfortable on the path to better health. We also know that creative is the key to an effective modern growth engine: what grows brands is brilliantly executed ideas across channels.
We're hiring a Director of Creative Strategy to drive that engine at Hers: someone who understands and respects the creative process, and can tie it back to the analytical thinking and metrics at the core of modern brands. You'll turn customer insight and performance data into ideas that help millions of people discover and engage with our products across Meta, YouTube, TikTok, and emerging channels.
You'll lead a dedicated creative pod, partnering closely with editors, producers, media buyers, and creative leaders to develop, test, and scale high-performing creative across channels, and you'll help build the systems that allow winning ideas to move quickly across categories and campaigns. The best candidates are just as comfortable reviewing performance dashboards as they are developing the next winning creative concept.
You Will:
  • Own the creative strategy for the Hers brand across performance marketing channels, ensuring every campaign reflects the brand while driving measurable business results.
  • Use performance data, customer insights, and market trends to develop creative hypotheses, concepts, scripts, and production-ready briefs.
  • Shape creative that helps women feel informed, supported, and confident throughout their healthcare journey while delivering work that is emotionally resonant, stigma-free, and unmistakably Hers.
  • Establish a high bar for creative strategy and briefing, ensuring every concept is grounded in customer insight, a clear hypothesis, and measurable success criteria.
  • Lead a multidisciplinary creative pod, partnering closely with editors, producers, and studio teams to develop high-quality creative.
  • Create fast, effective feedback loops across Creative, Growth, and Media Buying to continuously improve performance.
  • Partner with Growth, Creative, and Analytics leaders to rapidly test, learn, and iterate using performance data to continuously improve creative effectiveness.
  • Partner with Product, Clinical, Legal, and Brand teams to ensure creative accurately reflects our products while meeting regulatory requirements.
  • Lead regular performance reviews, providing visibility into wins, key learnings, strategic pivots, and new growth opportunities.
  • Capture and scale what works by building repeatable creative frameworks that can be adapted across products, audiences, and markets.
  • Operate confidently within healthcare marketing guardrails, partnering across Legal, Medical, and Marketing teams.

You Have:
  • First and foremost: a strong portfolio of performance creative that has won at scale on paid social: you can show the work, the data behind it, and the customer insight that made it win.
  • 8+ years of experience in creative strategy, content strategy, or performance creative (ideally in-house at a high-growth ecommerce or DTC brand) including experience leading teams and building creative functions.
  • Deep expertise developing creative for Meta, TikTok, YouTube, and other performance channels, with a strong understanding of platform-specific creative best practices.
  • Deep data fluency: you are comfortable in ad performance data, can identify actionable patterns yourself, and let evidence lead creative decisions.
  • Experience managing multidisciplinary creative teams and collaborating across marketing, design, and product functions, including with remote or distributed post-production teams.
  • Strong ownership mindset with the ability to move quickly, make decisions with imperfect information, and continuously iterate based on performance.
  • Exceptional business acumen with the ability to connect creative decisions to customer behavior, business performance, and long-term brand growth.

Bonus if You Have:
  • Experience in telehealth, healthcare, weight loss, or another regulated or sensitive category
  • Experience standing up in-house creative teams or transitioning work from external agencies
  • Experience adapting and localizing winning creative across international markets
  • Familiarity with UGC and creator-driven production models, including remote capture

Our Benefits (there are more but here are some highlights):
  • Competitive salary & equity compensation for full-time roles
  • Unlimited PTO, company holidays, and quarterly mental health days
  • Comprehensive health benefits including medical, dental & vision, and parental leave
  • Employee Stock Purchase Program (ESPP)
  • 401k benefits with employer matching contribution
  • Offsite team retreats

We are committed to building a workforce that reflects diverse perspectives and prioritizes ethics, wellness, and a strong sense of belonging. If you're excited about this role, we encourage you to apply-even if you're not sure if your background or experience is a perfect match.
