What is remote direct mail marketing?

Remote direct mail marketing is the practice of planning, creating, and managing direct mail campaigns from a remote location, rather than in a traditional office setting. Professionals in this role use digital tools to coordinate with teams, design mail pieces, segment mailing lists, and analyze campaign performance. They work with vendors to print and distribute physical mail, such as postcards, brochures, or catalogs, to targeted recipients. This approach allows businesses to reach customers offline while leveraging the flexibility and efficiency of remote work.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote direct mail marketing specialist?

To thrive as a Remote Direct Mail Marketing Specialist, you need expertise in marketing strategy, data analysis, and campaign management, often supported by a degree in marketing or communications. Familiarity with CRM platforms, direct mail automation tools, and data segmentation software is typically required. Strong project management, attention to detail, and effective communication skills help you coordinate campaigns and collaborate remotely. These skills ensure campaigns are targeted, measurable, and successful in reaching the desired audience while maximizing ROI.

How does a remote direct mail marketing professional typically collaborate with creative and data teams to execute campaigns?

Remote Direct Mail Marketing professionals frequently work cross-functionally with creative teams to develop compelling mail pieces and with data teams to ensure accurate audience targeting. Collaboration often involves virtual meetings, shared project management tools, and periodic check-ins to align on campaign objectives, timelines, and performance metrics. Effective communication and clear documentation are key, especially when working remotely, to maintain workflow transparency and ensure that all teams are coordinated from concept through to delivery and analysis.

Job description

Dive in and do the best work of your career at DigitalOcean. Journey alongside a strong community of top talent who are relentless in their drive to build the simplest scalable cloud. If you have a growth mindset, naturally like to think big and bold, and are energized by the fast-paced environment of a true industry disruptor, youโ€™ll find your place here.  We value winning togetherโ€”while learning, having fun, and making a profound difference for the dreamers and builders in the world.

We are looking for a Staff Program Manager who is passionate about bringing planning rigor and scalable operational excellence to marketing โ€” including shaping how we operate in the era of AI.

As a Staff Program Manager, Marketing Operations at DigitalOcean, you will join a dynamic team dedicated to revolutionizing cloud computing and AI. Reporting to the Director of Marketing Operations, youโ€™ll be marketing leadershipโ€™s trusted planning partner โ€” turning priorities into operating cadences, decision-ready materials, and clear owners, milestones, and outcomes. Youโ€™ll own planning and cross-functional coordination across marketing programs, co-owning execution alongside functional leads โ€” for example, partnering with our Product Marketing Lead to bring the programmatic rigor that keeps product launches on track. Beyond individual programs, youโ€™ll help shape how marketing operates as a team, including where AI-powered tools can drive more scalable, efficient ways of working.

What Youโ€™ll Do:
  • Own planning and cross-functional coordination for marketing programs, co-owning execution with functional leads (e.g., partnering with Product Marketing on launch planning and execution) to keep initiatives moving from kickoff to completion.
  • Build and run operating cadences with marketing leadership (status reviews, business reviews, planning cycles) that keep priorities, risks, dependencies, and next steps visible.
  • Help define how marketing operates together โ€” establishing the operating model, rituals, and ways of working that scale as the team and its remit grow.
  • Partner across marketing\'s functions, along with product, sales, engineering, finance, and partner teams, to align roadmaps, launches, and go-to-market plays with measurable business outcomes.
  • Track budget, resourcing, and approval workflows in support of program and partnership investments, surfacing risks and decision points to marketing leadership.
  • Lead co-marketing and cross-functional program execution for partner- and customer-facing initiatives (e.g., events, campaigns, customer storytelling), connecting product content to field and business outcomes.
  • Synthesize inputs from product, technical, partner, and customer stakeholders into decision-ready briefings, dashboards, and KPI reporting for marketing leadership.
  • Help shape marketing operations for the AI era โ€” identifying and implementing AI-powered tools and workflows that drive scalable operational and programmatic excellence.
Key Metrics:
  • On-time delivery rate for marketing programs and campaign launches
  • Stakeholder satisfaction with program management and planning support
  • Program cycle time from kickoff to launch
  • Budget and resourcing forecast accuracy
  • Roadmap adherence and reduction in scope churn
Compensation Range:
  • $150,000 - $190,000

*This is a remote role
