Job description

We are looking for a Senior Digital Designer to partner with internal and client teams on the design and evolution of large-scale digital platforms, including high-traffic websites, ecommerce experiences, and connected digital products. This role will play a critical part in shaping how customers visually experience, navigate, and interact with some of the most recognized digital platforms in the world across devices.

As part of our award-winning agency-recently named Ad Age Small Agency of the Year-this role will help drive and craft high-quality digital designs that connect creativity, technology, and performance, in partnership with internal and client stakeholders. We have a long track record of using digital innovation to bring brands to life through design, including launching first-of-their-kind platforms, campaigns, and interactive experiences. You will bring a strong point of view on digital craft and execution, ensuring that design quality, consistency, polish and accessibility remain exceptionally high as platforms scale and evolve.

You will be expected to manage and execute your own work while collaborating closely with a core cross-functional team that includes product, design, UX, engineering, and client leadership/stakeholders. The role requires hands-on digital design, fluency in AI-enhanced design workflows, a strong understanding of motion and interaction design, and a deep commitment to accessible digital experiences. You will be expected to move quickly, explore multiple directions, and translate established experience strategy into both testable prototypes and production-ready design that performs in the real world.
Responsibilities: User Interface Design (Primary)
  • Design high-fidelity UI for ecommerce and mobile app experiences, including:
  • - Navigation systems
  • - Product listing and detail pages
  • - Checkout, upsell, and account flows
  • - Promotional modules and creative campaign integrations
  • Translate brand guidelines into consistent, flexible digital interfaces
  • Maintain visual consistency across typography, layout, spacing, hierarchy, and interaction states.
  • Use animation and transitions to create clarity, delight, and "magical" moments that enhance usability, feedback, and emotional engagement.
  • Design responsive and adaptive layouts for multiple devices and breakpoints
Responsibilities: Figma & Design Systems
  • Operate at an expert level in Figma, including:
  • - Components, variants, and auto layout
  • - Design tokens and styles
  • - Libraries and shared systems
  • Contribute to and evolve existing design systems
Responsibilities: Developer Handoff
  • Prepare files for smooth transition into development
  • Annotate designs and define interaction states, spacing, and behavior
  • Partner with developers to ensure feasibility and fidelity
  • Support QA by reviewing builds against design intent
Responsibilities: UX Collaboration
  • Adhere to foundational UX principles when designing interfaces
  • Collaborate with UX partners when questions arise around flows, hierarchy, or usability
Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience as a designer in a creative agency or similar environment, with a strong focus on digital work.
  • Expert-level proficiency in Figma and Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign).
  • Strong digital design fundamentals, including UX/UI best practices and responsive systems.
  • Strong ability to elevate experience quality through detail, consistency, and refinement.
  • Demonstrated experience using AI tools for concept generation and exploration, visual and layout experimentation, image and asset generation
  • Strong understanding of accessibility (WCAG) with experience applying standards directly within design files, components, component states (focus, hover, error, disabled, etc.) and interactions.
  • Ability to manage time, process, and workflow independently while meeting tight deadlines.
  • Highly organized and comfortable working collaboratively across disciplines, agency teams, and client teams.
  • Experience using modern design-to-development tooling, including Dev Mode and AI plugins in Figma, Zeplin, or similar platforms, to generate precise specs, automate tasks, support design systems, and enable seamless design-to-code handoff.
  • Proven ability to reduce friction between design and development by leveraging AI-powered creation, clear documentation, and collaborative workflows that improve speed, accuracy, and build quality.
$100,000 - $140,000 a year
Salary negotiable based on experience?
WIP Perks and Benefits
Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, short-term disability (STD), voluntary long-term disability (LTD), and voluntary life/AD&D.
3% 401k contribution.
"Unlimited" paid time off (PTO) for vacation days.
27 paid days off, which includes 16 holidays, a 1-week agency closure in July, and a 2-week agency closure in December.
2 weeks fully remote per year.
Discretionary annual bonus.
Each employee receives a $1,500 personal training credit annually, known as the WIP Fund, to allow for personal or professional growth in specific interest or passion areas.

About Us
We believe every brand, and person, should be a work in progress.

It's why the founding partners opened the agency in 2016, and why WorkInProgress helps brands boldly take action, innovate, and create to prove why they exist. Then we use those actions to create the most memorable advertising.

As an independent agency, we strive to prove that an agency can care as much about a client's business as they do. And that advertising can play a fundamental role in building and growing a company.

We're always looking for smart, creative, and passionate people that care more about changing a company than winning awards.

Inventors more than ad people. Problem solvers more than portfolio puffery pushers. No assholes. No egos. No hiding because you can't do the job. No selfishness. No disrespecting people or their time. Insanely talented, yet incredibly humble. In other words, one in a million. Lucky for us, we want to stay small and independent.

Our office is located in Boulder, CO, and we require employees to work from the office Tuesdays and Thursdays.
We may use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to support parts of the hiring process, such as reviewing applications, analyzing resumes, or assessing responses and identifying potential inconsistencies or verification signals in application materials based on available information. These tools assist our recruitment team but do not replace human judgment. Final hiring decisions are ultimately made by humans. If you would like more information about how your data is processed, please contact us.
