A Remote Digital Director is a senior professional who oversees a company’s digital strategy, campaigns, and online presence while working from a remote location. They are responsible for managing digital marketing initiatives, leading digital teams, and ensuring the alignment of digital efforts with business goals. This role often includes overseeing website management, social media, digital advertising, and analytics. Working remotely allows them to collaborate with teams and stakeholders virtually, using digital tools to execute strategies efficiently.

How does a remote digital director effectively lead and collaborate with distributed teams?

A Remote Digital Director typically relies on clear communication channels, regular virtual meetings, and collaborative project management tools to lead teams spread across different locations. This remote structure allows for flexible work arrangements while still driving digital strategy and execution.

Job description

Opportunity at a Glance

The Director of Digital owns the strategy, roadmap, and ongoing delivery of ACAMS.org and the broader ACAMS Digital Ecosystem. This is more than a website leadership role: our digital platform is a product in its own right, spanning discovery, trial, purchase, and renewal of certifications, training, membership, and subscription-based news and intelligence content. You will act as the connective tissue between Marketing, Product, Sales, Operations, and News/Intelligence — translating business goals into a prioritized backlog and shipping continuously through an agile delivery process.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain the roadmap for ACAMS.org, with stakeholder buy-in, spanning the full Digital Lifecycle: Find, Try, Buy, Renew, and Consume

• Play a leading role in defining the product vision for the ACAMS Digital Ecosystem — an end-to-end digital experience supporting ACAMS members across their professional journeys, from first certification through ongoing intelligence and community engagement

• Drive stakeholder alignment across Marketing, Product, Sales, Operations, and News/Intelligence divisions to maintain a unified backlog and prioritize website changes against business impact

• Own the ongoing release of website enhancements and bug fixes through an agile delivery process, partnering with engineering, design, and vendor teams on sprint planning, QA, and launch

• Optimize the digital commerce and subscription experience — conversion, self-service, and renewal — for products including premium news and intelligence content

• Define and track KPIs for digital performance (traffic, conversion, engagement, retention) and use data and user research to inform prioritization

• Lead and participate in regular executive updates on roadmap progress, results, and risks

Qualifications

• 8–10+ years in digital product management, digital experience, or e-commerce leadership, including ownership of a revenue-generating website or digital platform

• Proven success managing a cross-functional backlog and shipping through agile processes (Scrum/Kanban) with internal teams and external partners

• Experience with subscription, membership, or premium content business models; familiarity with CMS, e-commerce, CRM, and analytics platforms

• Strong stakeholder management and executive communication skills — able to build consensus across divisions with competing priorities

• Data-driven decision-maker comfortable with web analytics, A/B testing, and customer journey optimization

• Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or product management certification a plus. Familiarity with professional associations, credentialing, or B2B publishing environments is a strong plus
