Remote Development information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Developer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Developer, you need strong programming skills, problem-solving abilities, and experience with relevant coding languages, often supported by a computer science degree or equivalent experience. Familiarity with version control systems like Git, collaborative platforms such as GitHub or Jira, and remote communication tools like Slack or Zoom is essential. Excellent self-motivation, time management, and clear written communication help remote developers stand out. These skills ensure productivity, effective teamwork, and reliable project delivery in a distributed work environment.

How do remote development teams typically collaborate and stay aligned on projects?

Remote development teams usually rely on a combination of project management tools, version control systems, and regular virtual meetings to stay connected and aligned. Communication platforms like Slack or Microsoft Teams, along with daily stand-ups and sprint planning sessions, help ensure everyone is updated on progress and blockers. Code repositories such as GitHub or GitLab facilitate collaborative coding, while documentation tools keep information accessible. Effective remote collaboration often requires strong communication skills and self-discipline to manage tasks independently while staying engaged with the team.

What is remote development?

Remote development refers to the practice of software development where developers work from locations outside of a traditional office environment, often from home or co-working spaces. This setup is enabled by various collaboration tools, cloud services, and version control systems that allow teams to communicate and manage code remotely. Remote development offers flexibility, can improve work-life balance, and allows companies to tap into a global talent pool. However, it also requires strong communication skills and self-discipline to ensure productivity and team cohesion.

How can I make $2000 a week working from home?

Remote development jobs can pay $2000 or more per week for experienced developers working full-time or on high-paying freelance projects. Building a strong portfolio, acquiring in-demand skills like web or mobile app development, and using platforms like Upwork or Toptal can help secure high-paying opportunities. Consistent work, specialized skills, and efficient project management are key to reaching this income level.

What jobs make 3000 a month without a degree?

Remote development roles such as web developers, software testers, and freelance programmers can earn around $3,000 per month without a degree, especially with strong coding skills and experience in languages like JavaScript, Python, or HTML. Many of these jobs require self-learning, online certifications, or portfolio work rather than formal education, and they often offer flexible schedules and remote work environments.

Job description

Business Development & Capture Lead (DoD Domain | Remote)
Locations: Washington, DC | San Antonio, TX | Boston, MA
Clearance: Eligible for DoD Security Clearance (Top Secret preferred)
Travel: Occasional – customer meetings, conferences, and team strategy sessions

Embark on the Next Chapter of Your Career

  • Rackner is not just another consultancy; it's where mission meets innovation.
  • We're looking for a hands-on Business Development & Capture Lead ready to chart new territory across the DoD and Air Force landscape, drive meaningful impact, and grow alongside a company that's redefining how modern missions are delivered.
  • If you thrive on autonomy, enjoy shaping opportunities early, and take pride in leading or co-leading pursuits that result in real wins, this is your opportunity to lead from the front.

Your Mission

  • Lead or co-lead the capture lifecycle from discovery through award, with clear ownership of capture strategy, customer engagement, and proposal execution in lean environments.
  • Partner directly with Rackner's executive team to shape growth initiatives and influence national-level contracts.
  • Develop win themes, orchestrate proposals, and build strategic alliances that position Rackner for success.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with DoD and Air Force decision-makers to help shape acquisition requirements.
  • Represent Rackner at customer sessions, industry events, and internal strategy offsites.
  • Grow with the role – today you'll operate as a hands-on capture lead; over time, you'll help build and mentor future BD and capture capability as the organization scales.

Who You Are

  • 5+ years of experience in federal business development or capture management, ideally in small to mid-size GovCon or tech consulting environments.
  • Demonstrated experience contributing meaningfully to successful federal pursuits, including multi-million-dollar awards, with clarity around your personal role and accountability.
  • Familiarity with Air Force acquisition and the broader DoD ecosystem (direct experience preferred; adjacent experience welcomed).
  • Comfortable positioning technical services such as DevSecOps, AI/ML, cloud architecture, cybersecurity, or software engineering in partnership with technical teams (you don't need to be an engineer).
  • Experience using CRM and pipeline tools such as Monday.com, Deltek GovWin, or Salesforce.
  • Self-starter who values ownership, speed, accountability, and measurable outcomes.

What This Role Is (and Is Not)

This role is best suited for BD & Capture professionals who enjoy operating in lean, high-autonomy environments, balancing strategy with hands-on execution and partnering closely with leadership and technical teams.

This is not a large-prime, handoff-only capture role with layered proposal teams and narrow ownership.

Why Rackner

Rackner is a hypergrowth software consultancy building cloud-native, secure, and AI-powered solutions for startups, enterprises, and the public sector.

We've earned over $30 million in recent federal awards, recognition from the U.S. Air Force and State Department, and a reputation for engineering what others call impossible – from DevSecOps platforms to AI at scale.

Here, you'll find autonomy, trust, and visible impact, working alongside leaders who value initiative and sound judgment.

Benefits & Professional Growth

Rackner invests in its people; because when you grow, we all win.

  • Company-supported certifications aligned to current and future program work (APMP, AWS, Azure, PMP, and more).
  • Clear advancement tracks and future leadership opportunities
  • 401(k) with 100% match up to 6%
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, life, and disability coverage
  • Generous PTO and paid holidays
  • Home-office equipment plan and remote work support
  • Fitness and wellness reimbursement
  • Weekly pay schedule and modern perks, including team events and an inclusive culture

Your Future Starts Here

At Rackner, you won't just chase contracts; you'll shape missions, define markets, and build a career that grows as fast as our company.

We value real-world experience and thoughtful context over polished language or perfect alignment. If this role sounds close — but not exact — we still encourage you to apply.
