What is a remote dealer performance manager?

A Remote Dealer Performance Manager is a professional responsible for overseeing and improving the performance of dealership partners from a remote location. They analyze sales data, provide coaching, and implement strategies to help dealers meet their targets and enhance customer satisfaction. By conducting virtual meetings and using digital tools, they ensure effective communication and support without being physically present at the dealership. This role is common in industries such as automotive, where manufacturers or distributors work with a network of independent dealers.

How does a remote dealer performance manager typically collaborate with dealership teams to improve sales and service outcomes?

As a Remote Dealer Performance Manager, you will regularly connect with dealership teams via virtual meetings, calls, and collaborative platforms to analyze sales data, review KPIs, and identify improvement opportunities. You’ll provide ongoing coaching, share best practices, and help implement action plans tailored to each dealership’s unique needs. Building strong relationships and clear communication are crucial, as you serve as a trusted advisor, ensuring that dealership teams are aligned with corporate goals and equipped to succeed. This role requires a proactive approach and an ability to motivate teams remotely, often across multiple locations.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote dealer performance manager, and why are they important?

Exceptional relationship-building, communication, and problem-solving skills help you motivate dealer partners and address performance issues remotely. These competencies are vital for driving dealer success, ensuring goal alignment, and maintaining effective partnerships from a distance.

LegalZoom has been providing accessible and affordable online legal services for over 20 years. Since 2001, we've helped millions of customers launch, run, and grow their businesses, secure their intellectual property, and protect their loved ones with estate planning documents.

In an effort to foster a better work-life balance, LegalZoom is committed to a remote-first work environment. Our Austin, Beaverton, Frisco, LA Metro, and SF Bay Area offices allow our Zoomers to collaborate with teammates and offer special onsite events, lunches, and more.

This position is 100% remote and is not required to come into the office.

Overview

The Sr. Performance Marketing Manager will own all aspects of both in-house and agency-executed Programmatic campaigns - from strategy and planning through execution, measurement, and executive reporting. You will plan and execute Programmatic media campaigns across multiple platforms (e.g. Google Ads, The Trade Desk), independently developing media strategy, creative briefs, and a testing roadmap grounded in data. You will serve as the internal subject matter expert for Programmatic, driving a multi-quarter channel roadmap and representing the channel confidently to cross-functional partners and senior leadership. This role requires a proactive, strategic operator who can manage complex workstreams, communicate with clarity at all levels of the organization, and leverage AI and automation to increase speed and analytical rigor.

You will

  • Campaign Planning & Execution

    • Plan and execute paid acquisition campaigns across all Programmatic channels (Display, Video, CTV, Native, Audio, etc.) on platforms including Google Ads, The Trade Desk, and others, with full accountability for CPA and ROAS goals

    • Manage a combination of in-house executions, agency-led campaigns, and Direct IO partnerships

    • Ensure campaigns are set up for successful execution end-to-end - including tagging, creative briefs, measurement frameworks, and QA

  • Strategy & Channel Ownership

    • Independently develop and own the Programmatic channel roadmap, translating business objectives into a prioritized, quarter-over-quarter plan

    • Identify whitespace opportunities, make investment recommendations, and proactively bring forward strategic proposals - without waiting to be asked

    • Stay current on industry trends, emerging platforms, and best practices; bring a point of view on where Programmatic is going and how LegalZoom should respond

  • Testing & Optimization

    • Prioritize and execute a continuous testing calendar across audiences, creatives, placements, and partners to generate actionable insights and improve performance

    • Build, monitor, and report on all relevant KPIs (sessions, engagement, conversions, revenue, CPA, ROAS), using data-driven insights to optimize campaigns and make strategic recommendations

    • Demonstrate deep understanding of advanced attribution models - including multi-touch attribution (MTA) and marketing mix modeling (MMM) - and apply that knowledge to campaign measurement strategy and investment decisions

    • Design and interpret incrementality tests (e.g. geo holdouts, conversion lift studies) to validate channel impact and inform budget allocation beyond last-touch signals

    • Leverage brand lift studies to measure awareness and consideration impact of upper-funnel Programmatic investments, connecting brand signals to performance outcomes

    • Partner with Data Science and Analytics teams to advance MTA, MMM, incrementality, and brand lift capabilities at scale

  • Stakeholder Communication & Reporting

    • Own reporting cadences for Programmatic performance - preparing clear, executive-ready updates that translate data into narrative, highlight business impact, and surface decisions that require leadership input

    • Communicate proactively and confidently with senior stakeholders, both in written updates and verbal presentations; tailor communication style and altitude to the audience

    • Maintain and evolve reporting templates with insights across campaign, tactic, audience, and inventory dimensions

  • Project Management & Cross-Functional Execution

    • Manage multiple concurrent workstreams with rigor - tracking milestones, flagging risks early, and holding yourself and partners accountable to deadlines

    • Drive cross-functional initiatives with Creative, Data Science, Product Marketing, Dev, and other Growth Marketing teams; own your part of collaborative projects from briefing through delivery

    • Proactively identify blockers and dependencies before they become problems; surface solutions, not just issues

  • AI & Marketing Technology

    • Actively leverage AI tools (e.g. Claude, ChatGPT, platform-native AI features) to accelerate analysis, improve creative iteration, and automate repeatable workflows

    • Evaluate, pilot, and advocate for new AI-enabled capabilities within the Programmatic stack; help build team fluency by sharing what works

    • Drive martech best practices including trafficking workflows, data and API integrations, and platform-specific tagging requirements

You have

  • 7-9+ years of hands-on Performance Marketing experience, with a track record of owning channel strategy - not just executing against it

  • Recent hands-on-keys experience with Google Ads (Display and YouTube) and The Trade Desk required; experience on additional DSPs and Paid Social platforms (Meta, TikTok, Reddit, LinkedIn) preferred

  • Demonstrated ability to independently build and communicate a multi-quarter channel roadmap to senior stakeholders - including written briefs, executive presentations, and performance narratives

  • Strong project management skills: experience managing complex, multi-workstream projects with clear milestones, stakeholder accountability, and on-time delivery

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; proven ability to present performance results and strategic recommendations to senior leadership clearly and with confidence

  • A proactive operating style - you identify gaps, raise opportunities, and move work forward without waiting for direction

  • Hands-on experience using AI tools (generative AI, automation, platform-native AI features) to improve marketing output and efficiency; interest in building new AI-enabled workflows

  • Deep technical command of programmatic buying: trafficking, tagging, API integrations, attribution, platform nuances

  • Understanding of advanced attribution models (MTA, MMM), incrementality testing methodologies, and brand lift studies; experience partnering with Analytics teams to advance these capabilities preferred

  • Advanced Excel and data analysis skills; strong QA instincts and bias for accuracy

  • Bias for action, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage competing priorities without losing quality or momentum
