What is a remote day trader?

A remote day trader is a financial professional who buys and sells financial instruments, such as stocks or currencies, from a remote location—often working from home or anywhere with internet access. Day traders aim to profit from short-term price movements by making multiple trades within a single trading day. They typically use online trading platforms and analytical tools to inform their decisions. Success in this field requires quick decision-making, market knowledge, and effective risk management. Remote day trading offers flexibility but also comes with significant financial risk.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote day trader?

To thrive as a Remote Day Trader, you need strong analytical abilities, risk management skills, and a solid understanding of financial markets, often supported by relevant coursework or trading experience. Familiarity with trading platforms like MetaTrader or Thinkorswim, as well as certifications such as FINRA Series 7, can be advantageous. Discipline, emotional control, and decision-making under pressure are standout soft skills in this field. These skills are crucial for making informed trades, minimizing losses, and sustaining long-term profitability in a fast-moving, high-stakes environment.

What are some common challenges faced by remote day traders, and how can they be managed?

Remote day traders often encounter challenges such as market volatility, emotional decision-making, and maintaining discipline without direct supervision. To manage these, it's vital to develop a structured daily routine, use risk management strategies, and leverage trading software with reliable data feeds. Engaging with online trading communities and continuously educating oneself can also help mitigate isolation and enhance skills. Staying disciplined and keeping detailed trading journals can further support consistent performance.

* Located in Port Huron, MI, remote work options for candidates located in Detroit, MI * Competitive salary, benefits package, Retirement matching up to 3%, and educational development funding * A friendly, collaborative work environment * Opportunities for professional development and growth within the organization Maybe you’re an Air/Ocean Specialist who’s experienced when it comes to all things imports, or maybe you’re someone who’s dealt with customs and flow of goods through the USA. Either way, you understand how to move shipments through the USA, and you’re looking for a role where you can leverage this knowledge and be a key player in the timely delivery of goods. If you’re seeking growth opportunities and challenging work, we have just the opportunity for you.  We’re Buckland (https://www.buckland.com/) , and for 75 years we’ve been helping companies across the world experience global trade in a better way. Our customers trust us to simplify the complex world of Customs and Logistics by bringing customer focused people and innovative processes and technology together. Today, with over 500 employees and 9 locations, Buckland has grown beyond its start as a small business without losing any of its commitment to employees.  We’re looking for a Sr. Air/Ocean Specialist who can coordinate our shipments, ensuring smooth entry of goods into the USA. Sr. Air/Ocean Specialist: In this role, you’ll be responsible for coordinating all documentation and advances for clearance, ultimately ensuring the timely delivery of freight after clearance. You’ll also monitor and control all entry summary documentation to ensure shipments are prepared to enter in accordance with the US Federal Code of Regulations. You’ll retrieve, check and transmit information, enter it in, and ensure all details are in order as you manage data and clearance on shipments. Practically speaking, you will:  * Take responsibility for all imports of Air & Ocean shipments * Liaise with forwarders and the freight department daily to ensure all goods being imported have the necessary documentation completed in advance * Coordinate documentation for clearance/entry into the United States, and complete entry and entry summary documentation  * Ensure the POD is supplied * Expedite and trace shipments as needed * Determine profit levels and billing * Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of department processes Whether you have 2 or 5 years of work experience, your strong knowledge in Air & Ocean importing and entry of goods into the USA will set you up for success in this role. The best in this role are organized, have strong attention to detail, and excellent problem-solving skills. If this sounds like you and you’re looking to put these skills to use in an organization that has doubled in size and revenue over the last 5 years, we can’t wait to hear from you. Working with Buckland: This is a full-time, permanent position, with flexibility needed for overtime and on-call work. If you're located in Port Huron, you’ll work remotely for the time being, and then will be based out of our Port Huron, MI office, and if you're located in Detroit, you'll remain remotely.  In addition to a competitive salary commensurate with experience, you’ll receive: * A comprehensive health benefits package * Paid vacation time + an extra day off each year during the month you joined us  * 401K Plan matching plan up to 3% * Educational development assistance  While the benefits are great, Buckland goes the extra mile in showing its appreciation for employees; we also host holiday parties, offer a relaxed dress code, and provide paid volunteer days for our employees after their first year. Even though we’ve become a large, successful business, we haven’t lost sight of the people who got us here.   Qualifications: * 2 + years of relevant work experience importing to the USA * Experience with either Air and/or Ocean shipments/freight * Strong knowledge of the US Federal Code of Regulations for importing/entry of goods * Strong technical aptitude and experience with MS Office Suite (e.g., specifically Excel, Outlook, Word, etc.) * High school diploma * Post-secondary degree or diploma in logistics, supply chain, or related (an asset) How to Apply: Our online application will give you the option to apply to this role as a complete person – not just a resume. The application will assess your qualifications, personality traits and workplace preferences, and should take 10 to 15 minutes to complete. After submitting, you'll receive an email inviting you to log in and view your assessment results.   We strive to build a team that reflects the diversity of the community we work in, and encourage applications from traditionally underrepresented groups such as women, visible minorities, Indigenous peoples, people identifying as LGBTQ2SI, veterans, and people with disabilities.  We will review applications, with priority given to those who have completed the assessment, and look forward to hearing from you.
