Job description

SUMMARY
The Communications Specialist role includes corporate communications, public relations and community relations program coordination, execution and support. This individual will work both independently and collaboratively.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Maintains high standard of quality and consistency of both voice and design in all print and digital materials.
  • Corporate Communications
    • Collaborate with Director and management team on corporate communications initiatives and programming including development of newsletter, written communications, presentations, digital and multimedia content.
    • In this function, the individual works proactively and independently to generate content and work with team members to see it through to completion.
    • Provides communications support to executives, departments and ERGs.
    • Manages special projects as assigned.
  • Public Relations
    • Collaborate with Director on public relations planning, owning media monitoring, local media outreach and list management and maintenance.
    • Liaison with external public relations agency, working as a trusted partner, ensuring that they get what they need in a timely manner, in addition to managing media lists and tracking KPIs.
    • Manages incoming media requests from local and industry journalists.
    • Drafts press releases, fact sheets, backgrounders, and other media kit materials as necessary.
    • Works closely with marketing, taproom, sales and other internal teams on campaigns and social media initiatives.
    • Manages special projects as assigned.
  • Community Relations
    • Manages organizational relationship with non-profit partners, and related community relations activities.
    • Manages community relations budget.
    • Coordinates organizational participation in charity initiatives internally and externally, including creation of relevant materials.
    • Manages special projects as assigned.
    • Attend events and represents the organization as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations or a related field
  • Minimum 3 years of working in PR amp; communications at a corporation or agency
  • Alcohol / hospitality experience preferred
  • Skilled in written and verbal communication – very strong presentation development skills
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Clear, effective communication skills
  • Strong business acumen, including follow up and follow through
  • Acts professionally and with discretion
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite amp; comfortable using Canva / with light graphic design
  • Creative, decisive, collaborative, proactive and responsive – able to work independently and take responsibility for decisions and outcomes
  • Team player with, positive, can-do attitude
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
  • Consistently achieves desired outcomes on time and with minimal errors
  • Spanish language skills are an asset, but not required
