TheLegal Counselis responsible for providing strategic, tactical, and solutions-oriented legal support to Beckman Coulter Life Sciences' global businesses, with a focus on commercial operations and driving growth. This role partners closely with business leaders and cross-functional teams to deliver high-impact legal and compliance guidance, ensuring alignment between legal risk and business objectives. The Legal Counsel will draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of agreements, while supporting commercial initiatives across regions. This individual will develop a strong understanding of the business, operate with a global mindset, and demonstrate cultural sensitivity when working across international teams. The role requires balancing complex legal considerations with practical business solutions to enable informed decision-making and continued growth.
This position reports to the Assistant General Counsel and is part of the Legal function.This role is remote but our ideal candidate would be located within commutable distance to our office in Indianapolis, IN.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
  • Lead the review, drafting, and negotiation of complex global commercial agreements across key areas such as sales, procurement, distribution, SaaS, licensing, and joint development.
  • Provide pragmatic legal counsel to business teams on commercial matters, compliance, and data privacy, balancing legal risk with businessobjectives.
  • Drive legal operations excellence by enhancing processes,maintainingglobal contract templates, and standardizing policies and procedures.
  • Support enterprise priorities, including M&A and cross-functional initiatives, while partnering closely with IP, regulatory, compliance, and privacy teams, and contributing to litigation or regulatory matters as needed.
  • Build strong partnerships across Beckman Coulter Life Sciences and the broader Danaher legal network, leading initiatives and fostering continuous improvement.
The essential requirements of the job include:
  • 3+ years as a licensed U.S. attorney with experience in a nationally recognized law firm and in-house (life sciences preferred); global experience a plus.
  • Excellent academic credentials and active U.S. Bar membership in good standing.
  • Demonstrated leadership and strategic thinking, including mentoring/developing others and thoughtful team building.
  • Substantial deal and negotiation experience, with a leadershiptrack recordon executed transactions (e.g., partnerships, collaborations, licensing, M&A, research agreements).
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent priorities and stakeholders, with experience leveraging AI tools and technologies to improve legal processes, increase efficiency, and adapt to evolving AI-enabled workflows.
Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements:
  • Ability to travel globally as needed, up to 20% of the time.

The salary range for this role is $120,000-$150,000.This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range ofpossible compensationfor this role at the time of this posting.We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range.This range may bemodifiedin the future.
This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
We offercomprehensivepackage of benefits including paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance and 401(k) to eligible employees.
