Job Description:

Job Family Definition:

Responsible for providing technical support and/or leadership in the creation and delivery of technology solutions designed to meet a customer's business needs. Creates and maintains effective customer relationships to secure customer satisfaction. Provides the deepest level of product- and technology-specific expertise available to customers from anyone in the sales organization in deal pursuit situations. Aligned to specific products or product-lines.
The Consulting Systems Engineer is also a subject matter expert in their area of specialization (i.e., Mobility, Security, Branch, etc), responsible for consulting customers on end to end technical designs to meet their business need.
These jobs focus on selling to customers, typically through work that occurs outside HPE offices.

Management Level Definition:

  • Act as the lead technical advisor to Federal Systems Integrators and their government customers
  • Partner with Account Managers and Partner teams to develop, qualify, and close strategic opportunities
  • Drive end-to-end solution design across:
    • Campus and branch networking (wired & wireless)
    • Data center networking (leaf-spine, EVPN/VXLAN, fabric architectures)
    • Routing and WAN (BGP, OSPF, MPLS, SD-WAN, overlay/underlay designs)
    • Zero Trust and security frameworks
    • Network access control and segmentation
  • Lead technical discovery sessions and map requirements to scalable architectures and roadmaps
  • Create and deliver:
    • Technical proposals and architectures
    • RFP/RFI responses and solution narratives
    • Customer presentations, demos, workshops, and POCs
  • Position HPE Networking solutions competitively in multi-vendor FSI-led pursuits
  • Collaborate with internal engineering, services, and product teams to solve complex technical challenges
  • Build trusted relationships with:
    • Partner engineers and architects
    • Capture and program managers
    • Government technical stakeholders
  • Support partner enablement and joint go-to-market strategies
  • Stay current on federal trends including Zero Trust, AI-driven networking, and hybrid cloud architectures
  • Travel as needed to partner and customer sites across the U.S.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, IT, or equivalent experience
  • 7+ years of experience in pre-sales engineering, solution architecture, or technical consulting
  • Experience supporting or working with Federal Systems Integrators or defense contractors
Technical Expertise
  • Strong background in:

    • Enterprise and campus networking (LAN/WLAN)
    • Data center networking (EVPN/VXLAN, spine-leaf, segmentation)
    • Routing and WAN technologies (BGP, OSPF, MPLS, SD-WAN)
    • Network security and Zero Trust architectures
  • Hands-on experience with one or more of the following:

    • HPE Aruba CX switching and/or Juniper (Junos, Mist) (required)
    • APIs, automation, and programmability (preferred)
    • Juniper SRX or equivalent firewall platforms (highly desirable)
    • VPN technologies (DMVPN, ADVPN, GroupVPN)
  • Experience with NAC/security platforms such as:

    • Aruba ClearPass
    • Juniper Access Assurance
    • Cisco ISE
Additional Experience We Value
  • Experience supporting large-scale, multi-vendor federal programs led by FSIs
  • Familiarity with RFP processes, capture strategy, and technical volumes
  • Understanding of federal compliance frameworks (Zero Trust, RMF, IL environments)
  • Experience with AI-driven networking platforms (Mist AI, Aruba Central)
