Job description

We're looking for an AI Social Strategist to build Hootsuite's organic social presence with AI as the operating model from day one. Reporting to the Director, Marketing Channels & Distribution, you'll be embedded within the AEO team and own social as a system you continuously improve, not a list of tasks you execute.

This role is open to remote-applicants in Canada (in Provinces where we can hire legally), unless you are near a commuting distance from our Toronto or Vancouver offices. In which case, there would be a hybrid component.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Build and run an AI-first social system across Hootsuite Amplify and broader social channels (LinkedIn, X, Reddit, and Meta), using Claude, the Hootsuite MCP, and complementary tooling to automate the parts of the function that should not require a human
  • Build reusable Claude skills and MCP-powered tools (brand-voice drafting, post analysis, listening synthesis, competitive briefs) so your work compounds instead of restarting every Monday
  • Own social listening end-to-end using Talkwalker and complementary tools. Turn signal into weekly insights and quarterly content strategy, and build automated listening reports that go from raw data to interpreted insight without manual tagging
  • Partner with the AEO team to monitor and grow Hootsuite's share of voice across AI answer surfaces (Brand Radar, third-party citations, creator content), while bridging social signal and AEO outcomes within the broader Brand Presence motion
  • Develop social performance analysis as a system, not a manual report. Pair traditional engagement and reach metrics with AI-first KPIs (skills shipped, percentage of work automated, share of voice on AI surfaces, time-to-insight on listening)
  • Develop and ship innovative social programs across lead generation, employee advocacy through Amplify, executive thought leadership, and AI-native creative formats
  • Treat your role as a system to continuously improve. Within six months, the bulk of recurring work should run through automated pipelines you've built, not manual execution
  • Champion Hootsuite's internal AI tooling and MCP capabilities, providing structured feedback that shapes what we ship to customers

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

  • 5-8 years of experience in social media, content marketing, or brand strategy roles, with at least one role where you owned strategy not just execution. B2B SaaS experience strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated experience building AI-augmented workflows. You've already shipped things using Claude, ChatGPT, custom GPTs, MCPs, n8n, Zapier with AI, or similar tooling, and can speak specifically to what you automated and the impact it had
  • Proficiency with social media intelligence platforms (Hootsuite, Sprout, Brandwatch, Khoros) and social listening tools (Talkwalker, Brandwatch, Sprinklr)
  • Familiarity with AEO, SEO, or related brand-presence disciplines is a strong asset. Commitment to Results: consistently achieves results, demonstrating high performance, and challenging self and others to deliver results
  • Problem Solving: uses an organized and logical approach to find solutions to complex problems. Looks beyond the obvious to understand the root cause of problems
  • Influence: Asserts own ideas and persuades others, gaining support and commitment and mobilizing people to take action
  • Open Communication: clearly conveys thoughts, both written and verbally, listening attentively and asking questions for clarification and understanding
  • Creativity and Innovation: seeks new and better ways of doing things, generates original and imaginative ideas, products, or solutions

WHO YOU ARE:

  • Solution seeker. You're focused on tackling new challenges, solving problems, and moving the business forward, and you don't wait to be asked.
  • Lifelong learner. You have a growth mindset, you're here to learn, experiment, seek, apply, and provide feedback, share what works with your team, and move on from what doesn't.
  • Resilient adapter. In the face of change and challenges, you bring a thoughtful, calm approach, and a focus on finding the new opportunity.
  • Intentional collaborator. You build positive working relationships across the business, bringing people together to foster new opportunities and to facilitate the efficient flow of information.
  • Critical challenger. You have the trust in your team to ask difficult questions in order to get to the best end result.
  • Active communicator. You listen actively and communicate ideas and information clearly, inclusively, and proactively.
  • Integrated thinker. You look beyond your role and responsibilities to understand how your team's work drives broader organizational goals.
  • Accountable owner. You take pride in the work you're responsible for with a mindset of ultimate accountability and reliability for the outcomes.
  • Bar-raiser. You step up to help your team grow and succeed, even when that means going beyond what might be expected.
