The Cross Sector disciplines include: Coastal Solutions; Commercial Management; Economics & Statistics; Environmental Sciences and Planning; Geomatics & Remote Sensing; Geospatial; Geotechnical; Management Consulting; Project Controls; Project Delivery Strategy; Right of Way; Strategic Communications; Sustainability & Resilience; and Urban Design, Planning & Landscape Architecture.

The Cross Sector Technology Director's mission is to drive Cross Sector technology vision, strategy, standards, and innovation. This leader will help shape and execute HDR's applied technology vision by acting as a key bridge between the Cross Sector, Business Groups and Corporate Technology.

Success in this role includes accelerating adoption of technology across the Cross Sector program, developing consistent delivery approaches, fostering technology talent networks, shaping the firm's multiyear technology strategy, deepening vendor partner engagements and helping to position the company as a differentiated, technologyenabled leader in the marketplace.

The Cross Sector Technology Director serves in a strategic, enterprise-level position, collaborating closely with Business Group Technology Directors (BGTDs) and Corporate Technology teams to address Cross Sector-specific requirements.

Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership & Cross Sector Alignment
  • Stay current on emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices relevant across professional services markets.

  • Advocate for Cross Sector technology needs across the enterprise.

  • Drive technology innovation within and across Cross Sectors.

  • Identify opportunities for standardization, reuse, and scaling of successful technology solutions.

  • Partner with Business Group Technology Directors to co-develop and align technology visions, roadmaps, and priorities.

  • Collaborate with Corporate Technology teams to develop enterprise strategies, platforms, and investments that support cross sector needs.

Technology Planning & Enablement
  • Support the development and maintenance of coordinated technology roadmaps that align enterprise capabilities with Cross Sector delivery needs.

  • Facilitate evaluation, selection, and adoption of shared technology solutions including digital delivery platforms, data management, artificial intelligence, automation, optimization, and visualization tools.

  • Work with Corporate Technology to identify and address Cross Sector hardware and software needs such as highperformance computing, cloud services, and enterprise licensing.

  • Participate in technology governance activities including software development policies, validation, and lifecycle management where crosssector alignment is required.

Collaboration, Influence & Talent Development
  • Serve as a connector across Business Groups, enabling collaboration, knowledge sharing, and adoption of leading practices.

  • Foster technology talent, skills development, and collaboration across Cross Sectors.

  • Communicate complex technology concepts clearly to business, operational, and executive leadership audiences.

  • Work across competing priorities and stakeholder interests to help define, prioritize, and advance technology initiatives.

Project & Delivery Engagement
  • Participate in major programs, pursuits, or initiatives where cross sector technology expertise adds value.

  • Advise and support Business Groups during implementation of enterprise or shared technology solutions.

  • Promote consistent, highquality technologyenabled delivery approaches that improve efficiency, quality, and client outcomes

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years post-graduate professional experience with 5+ years' experience in one of the cross sectors noted above or the architectural, engineering, and construction consulting industry

  • 2+ years' data sciences, numerical modeling, digital production, or software development and deployment with an emphasis in tools related to the AEC consulting industry.

  • Bachelor's degree.

  • Demonstrated ability to formulate and execute applied technology strategies and implementation plans.

  • Broad experience with digital delivery, data architecture and management, automation, optimization, and visualization technologies.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across diverse teams and leadership levels.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Recent project delivery experience in multiple sectors and business groups.

  • Experience evaluating, implementing, and supporting enterprise or multisector technology platforms in the AEC industry.

  • Understanding a broad range of technologies and their applied use across architecture, engineering, and consulting environments.
