Job description

Creative Director, Copy (Remote)

At Edelman Financial Engines (EFE), our purpose is to guide people with the financial advice they need to thrive.

We believe that every dollar saved represents a lifetime of hard work and aspirations, and every dollar invested has job to do for our clients. That’s why we are committed to managing our clients’ investments by truly understanding them as people first and then delivering advice, strategies and solutions to help them feel confident about the plans they are making, whether for today, tomorrow, or in the great unknown future. Our goal is to build long-term relationships based on respect, integrity, and a belief that our responsibility is to help people make smart investments decisions in every stage of their lives.

Our culture is grounded in our CORE values: Client First, One Team, Respectful Candor, and Endless Curiosity. These values guide everything we do, for our clients and each other. We are committed to moving forward together. If you are inspired by purpose-driven work and a collaborative, values-led culture, we invite you to explore a career with us.

We’re seeking a Creative Director, Copy, to help lead a new era of storytelling at Edelman Financial Engines — one that makes the complex more human, the financial more emotional, and the trusted feel fresh.

This is a senior leadership role for a writer and thinker who believes great financial marketing starts with empathy and clarity — and who can turn insight into stories that inspire confidence, action, and belief.

Reporting to the VP, Brand & Creative, you’ll partner closely with the Creative Director, Art to concept and craft brand campaigns, content platforms, and marketing narratives that connect strategy to emotion. Your words will shape how millions of people understand not just their money — but their potential.
You’ll lead a team of writers and content creators who bring craft, curiosity, and conviction to every brief, guiding them toward ideas that are as intelligent as they are human.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the tone and storytelling expression of the Edelman Financial Engines brand across all touchpoints.
  • Partner with art directors to create integrated campaigns that drive brand relevance and performance.
  • Develop ideas that simplify complex financial topics into clear, emotionally resonant stories.
  • Mentor and coach writers, helping them elevate their craft and voice.
  • Collaborate with brand strategy, content, and product teams to ensure a unified creative vision across every channel.
  • Push the creative boundaries of what financial marketing can be — without losing clarity, humanity, or trust.
  • Maintain a high standard of creative excellence across all written work, from conceptual campaigns to everyday content.
  • Champion the role of writing and storytelling within the broader Edelman Financial Engines culture.

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of experience in brand storytelling and creative writing, ideally across both agency and in-house environments.
  • 5+ years leading and mentoring creative teams.
  • A portfolio that demonstrates conceptual excellence, clarity of thought, and range of tone across mediums.
  • Proven ability to turn strategy into story and insight into language that moves people.
  • Deep familiarity with modern content and campaign ecosystems — from brand film to digital and social.
  • Curiosity for how creativity, technology, and human behavior intersect — and how language can move between them.
Edelman Financial Engines takes a market-based approach to pay. The expected base salary range for this role nationally is $134,400 - $179,200. However, final base pay will be carefully determined based on several factors, including responsibilities, job-related skills, relevant experience, geographic location, and market conditions. Additionally, this role may be eligible for other forms of compensation and benefits, such as a discretionary bonus, health, dental and other wellness plans, and 401(k) contributions.

Your recruiter can share more about the specific benefits eligible for this role during the hiring process.
