Senior Accounting & Finance Advisory Consultant
(ProjectBased - Remote)
Pay Range: $60-$100/hour, depending on background
Overview
We are seeking an experiencedconsultantto support client engagements working with state, county, local city, or school district entities.

This opportunity is ideal for a professional with ablend of public entity industry experience, likely in a Controller or Accounting Manager role,who enjoys handson, highimpact project work. These assignments will likely last 2-3 months.


Engagement Includes

  • Working with state, county, local city, or school district entities
  • Accounting cleanup efforts
  • Monthend / quarterend close stabilization
  • Audit readiness and external auditor support

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with audit readiness for state, county, local city, or school district entities
  • Assist with cleanup of balance sheet accounts, historical reconciliations, and accounting backlogs
  • Serve as a key point of contact for external auditors and advisors
  • GASB compliance

Qualifications
Required

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting and/or finance experience
  • Experience working with state, county, local city, or school district entities
  • Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP, GASB standards, and core accounting principles
  • Experience supporting monthend close, financial reporting, and audits
  • Ability to operate independently in ambiguous or evolving environments
  • Advanced Excel skills

Preferred

  • Previous experience as an Accounting Manager or Controller in the target public entities
  • Experience in projectbased, interim, or advisory consulting roles
