Job description

We are seeking an experienced California litigation attorney to join us on a contract basis to handle a growing pipeline of legal work. This is an excellent opportunity for a self-motivated attorney who values flexibility, enjoys substantive legal work, and is interested in building something over time.

What You'll Do

You will handle litigation matters from intake through resolution, including legal research, drafting pleadings, motions, and discovery, preparing for hearings and depositions, and managing case strategy. The work is substantive and varied, and you will have meaningful ownership over the matters assigned to you.

What We're Looking For

  • Licensed attorney in good standing with at least 5+ years of litigation experience
  • Strong legal writing, research, and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage cases independently and meet deadlines without close supervision
  • Excellent judgment and professionalism in client-adjacent and adversarial settings
  • Comfort working remotely and communicating proactively
  • An entrepreneurial mindset — someone who thinks like an owner, identifies opportunities, takes initiative, and treats the work as their own rather than just billing hours.

Engagement Details

This is a contract (1099) role with flexible hours. Compensation is competitive and structured based on experience and engagement model (hourly, flat-fee per matter, or hybrid — open to discussion).

Why This Could Be a Great Fit

We are intentionally starting this as a contract relationship because we believe the best long-term partnerships grow out of working well together first. For the right person, this role has real upside — potential paths include an expanded ongoing contractor role, a revenue-share arrangement, a partnership-style relationship, or other structures that reward attorneys who help build something meaningful. If you are an attorney who has thought about going out on your own or wants more autonomy than a traditional firm offers, we should talk.

To Apply

Please send a resume, a brief writing sample, and a short note about why this opportunity interests you.
