Job description

LHH Recruitment Solutions is partnering with a confidential client to build a team of experienced Remote Contract Oil & Gas Attorneys . This is an exceptional opportunity for legal professionals with hands-on experience in oil and gas work specifically in West Virginia, Ohio, or Pennsylvania . Candidates must have a proven track record in these states, particularly in drafting title opinions and handling property-related legal matters in the energy sector.
Out client is open to candidates who are able to work full time, part time and or are flexible with their availability. Must be able to work at least 10+ hours a week at a minimum.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct detailed title reviews and prepare thorough title opinions for oil and gas properties in West Virginia, Ohio, or Pennsylvania .
  • Review deeds, leases, and other property records to confirm ownership and assess title status.
  • Identify title defects or issues and provide actionable recommendations for resolution.
  • Collaborate with landmen, clients, and other stakeholders to gather necessary information and documentation.
  • Stay current on state-specific laws, regulations, and industry standards affecting oil and gas title work.
  • Draft and review legal documents related to oil and gas transactions, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Advise clients and internal teams on title opinions and property rights.
  • Maintain accurate and organized records of all title examinations and opinions.
Qualifications:
  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Active membership in good standing with the appropriate state bar(s).
  • Required: Experience handling oil and gas legal matters in West Virginia, Ohio, or Pennsylvania .
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in oil and gas law, including preparing title opinions.
  • Strong understanding of property law, title examination, and curative processes in the relevant state(s).
  • Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects independently and contribute effectively to a team.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with legal research tools and title examination software.
