Work Environment

As a counselor with Sunshine Community Psychiatric Services, you will have the autonomy to set your own availability and manage your time effectively, all while being supported by a collaborative team that handles administrative duties and billing processes. You will receive a competitive salary ranging from USD 120,000 – 140,000 annually, along with additional bonuses based on performance. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct individual therapy sessions focused on addressing clients’ emotional and psychological needs, following evidence-based practices.
• Facilitate group therapy sessions, utilizing techniques such as CBT, DBT, and Motivational Interviewing to foster peer support.
• Develop personalized treatment plans in collaboration with clients, ensuring that their goals and preferences are central to the therapy process.
• Maintain comprehensive and accurate documentation of client progress and treatment outcomes, adhering to ethical and legal standards.
• Engage in continuous professional development by obtaining required CEU credits annually, with costs covered by the organization.
• Participate in optional peer groups and collaborate with the Content Manager to provide valuable insights and resources to clients.
• Encourage clients to tap into community recovery supports, such as AA, Smart Recovery, and Moderation Management, and integrate these resources within their treatment plans.

Patient Population / Client Focus

Our client base primarily consists of individuals seeking to modify their relationship with alcohol, ranging from those pursuing complete abstinence to those interested in moderation strategies. As a Mental Health Counselor, you will engage with a diverse group of clients, each with unique challenges and motivations. Your understanding of the harm-reduction model will be crucial in tailoring support to meet the varying needs of our clients

Qualifications

• Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) in the state of California.
• Proven training, certification, and/or experience in therapeutic modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Trauma-Informed Care.
• Demonstrated ability to engage effectively with clients, exhibiting strong clinical engagement skills and empathy.
• Knowledge of community recovery support options and the ability to guide clients in utilizing these resources during their treatment journey.

Preferred Experience

• Previous experience working with individuals struggling with alcohol-related issues or behavioral health disorders.
• Familiarity with online therapy platforms and virtual care delivery models.
• Expertise in facilitating group therapy and supporting peer-led initiatives.
