Remote Content Moderation information

What is a remote content moderator?

A Remote Content Moderation job involves reviewing and monitoring user-generated content on websites, social media platforms, or online communities to ensure it complies with platform guidelines and policies. Moderators assess text, images, videos, and other media, removing harmful or inappropriate content such as hate speech, violence, and spam. This role requires strong attention to detail, familiarity with online policies, and the ability to handle potentially distressing material. Since it's remote, moderators work from home, often following shift-based schedules set by employers.

What does a remote content moderator do?

As a Remote Content Moderator, your day often involves reviewing user-generated content such as posts, images, videos, or comments to ensure they comply with set guidelines and policies. You may address flagged content, respond to user appeals, and document actions taken for internal tracking. Most teams operate on shift schedules to provide 24/7 coverage, and you’ll likely collaborate with other moderators, team leads, or policy specialists through online platforms. The role can be fast-paced and requires focus, but it also provides the flexibility to work from home. Regular meetings or check-ins help you stay aligned with policy updates and foster team connection.

What skills and qualifications are needed to be a remote content moderator?

To thrive as a Remote Content Moderator, you need strong attention to detail, critical thinking, and a solid understanding of community guidelines or content policies. Familiarity with moderation platforms, ticketing systems, and sometimes basic knowledge of tools like CRM software or proprietary dashboards is typical. Excellent communication skills, emotional resilience, and cultural sensitivity help you navigate sensitive content and interact professionally with team members. These skills and qualities are crucial for accurately enforcing platform standards, maintaining a safe online environment, and managing challenging situations effectively.

In this remote full-time role, you will leverage your expertise to provide tailored therapeutic support to individuals seeking to improve their relationship with alcohol. You will play a critical role in implementing evidence-based practices and guiding clients towards a healthier lifestyle.

The clients you will work with come to Valley Healing Counseling Services seeking meaningful change in their relationship with alcohol. They may be exploring varying degrees of moderation and abstinence, and it is essential to understand their backgrounds, treatment preferences, and goals. You will implement therapeutic models such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI) guided by a harm-reduction philosophy.

Qualifications
  • Must possess a current and valid LCSW, LMFT, or LPCC license in the state of California.
  • A Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, marriage and family therapy, or a related field is required.
  • A minimum of three years of clinical experience in mental health counseling, preferably in settings focused on substance use and recovery.
  • Demonstrated training in evidence-based treatment methodologies, including CBT, DBT, and trauma-informed care.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience in the harm-reduction model of treatment, with the ability to guide clients through various stages of their recovery journey.
  • A background in facilitating support groups or leading psychoeducational workshops.
  • A familiarity with community recovery resources and an understanding of how to integrate them into a person-centered treatment approach.
Compensation and Benefits

The annual salary for this position ranges from $120,000 to $140,000, complemented by performance-based bonuses. In addition to competitive compensation, we offer a comprehensive benefits package that includes health insurance, a retirement plan, and generous paid time off, ensuring our team members can maintain a healthy work-life balance.
